i use stainless steel "filler rod". got a bunch at the welding shop. once it's buried in the glass it seems to stick just fine. it's a little tricky getting it in there without melting it though.

You work with glass hippi...

I use the last 3 inches of my stringers where they get a little wide at the end to make pokers, and my friends love 'em! Sometimes I blob a little gather of a different color on the end. Practice tapering the narrow end to a fine point and it'll poke out a bowl hole no problem.

You can make long narrow ones with a bend on the end = L that work good for cleaning out slides/GOG, you just have to go in from the underneath. Scrapes them pretty clean if you use it often enough.

I just hate using metal on glass....:wes:

I have lots of bent mandrals that I can cut down and make pokers with, I'd just get the metal hot at the end, wrap some glass with decos and walah..over 12 yrs ago I made alot of "pot stickers" that way, when my bead release broke and the glass stuck to the the bare metal, lol. Hey, turning lemons into lemonade, but I doubt that, at 12" long they'd be the ticket...so what length should the pokers be?

i think thats debatable...some shops like shorties- 4" and most like 6" cause people like to cut em down-
