I was posting some pictures in my shop thread but decided to start one just for pictures of my work. Any advice would be helpful.

First 2 times ive tried to do a blow-in. Takes me forever. Plus I get some non circular bubbles that are just inviting cracking. Like the amber purple one, cracked on me while flame striking the bowl.

Bummer about it cracking! Amber Purple isn't a "cracking" color, at least I haven't had any problems with it. Were you flame striking it after you'd finished the mouth piece and detached the blowtube? Try flame striking it after you're finished shaping your bowl and it's still hot, then move on down to the mouth piece... Or you could garage it to bring it all up to temp... Just my 2 cents...

i heard breaking off your mouth pieces weakens the piece and the shards that get trapped inside create angles that crack blow-ins...you should prolly stop breaking your mouth pieces off :poke:

The A/p one broke because i did somethin stupid and let it cool to much and then hit it with the flame. I forgot to get blowtubes so im doin this by points.

Somethin new...First one is Carmen red, egyptian sand, and ninja. Second one is Ninja and Pumpkin

Some more stuff. Tryin to work on the termination. The white ones termination is messy but the rasta colored one actually looks pretty good. I think I got lucky. Also a Honeycomb pendent that I only flame struck the bottom half of. My First ISO attempt that actually had enough glass to make a full spoon. And of course there is also an Octopus with its head blown off.

nice dude! that octopus is sick its a dish right? i was thinking of making a octopus lil figure... now you should make a lil dabber for the dish that looks like a shot gun for the full head blown off effect haha.. i wanna make some dishes but i dont think the tubing i have is big enough.. again nice work dude! hopfully now that i figured out pullin points i can progress more...

man this one guy i know made all these nautical things to decorate some guys boat and one of them was a squid. it was awsome. i forgot about it till your octy-- i got to figure out how to make a squid like his--it was a sick purple too. thanks for jogging my memory.

This is my first ever attempt to make a sherlock. The stem turned out a nice shape but the bowl of it is pretty funky. I will learn as time goes on.

Thanks guys, I can understand why prep is so important now. Takes a while for me to do these reversals. I wanna try a multisection piece next but lil low on oxygen so will have to try on monday.

lookin good dude! the blowin looks sick! is that done by fuming a clear tube,put clear dots or lines when coil pot some color on another tube and blow it into the fumed tube?..either way, way outta my league...keep them comming dude! a bunch of inspiration thanks for postin!

What I did for the blowin is coilpot color on a 25mill then flare open a 32mill and fume silver in. Then blow the color in the 32mill. Thats about it. N thanks for the kind words.

Mouthpiece is purple thunder..I think. Middle is Double A/P and capped off with some more purple thunder. I know the color is something with thunder in it. :crazy:

Couple more things. Someone told me they wanted a black and white set of pipes so there are those. Also someone wants a gandalf...so that was my first attempt. N last we have 2 blowins that have some great patterns on them. Kinda the same ol stuff tho. :D

First Ive been messin around with a/p as you can tell.
I had a nice run in with some tile today. Pretty sweeeeeeet.
Last is my first try at a multisection piece. It didnt stand up very well....or at all. Pretty funky shape but will keep trying. Thanks for checkin it out.

your blow-ins look good, but your reversals and linework need some work. hope this helps:
1.always try to keep an even wall thickness, you can practice with fumed clear rods so you don't waste color, matt and misha taught me that when i was startin out stick stacking.
2.take your time with learning how to work reversals and switchbacks right. Don't try to move onto multi-sectional pieces if you haven't mastered single section prep tube pipes, Thats a common mistake(which i made too). I know it's exciting to go for bigger better things, but you will find it much easier to get there if you master your basics first...Good Luck!!

So, I got a chance to kick it with Jplank yesterday. Wanna give him credit for theses for sure. Gave me a little demo on donuts. These are my first and second tries. The 1st one is just clear with silver fumes over it. Really happy with the weld on it. Second one is tripple passion and a bit bigger. Thanks for lookin.

None of that is encased Freak. The way that I do it is just lay color on a 25 heavywall melt that in. Then blow out to make it a bit thinner then lay down the dots with 12 mill. Melt back down and shape. Im sure there are better ways to do it but yea.

i've not tried donuts yet.. so are you making the donut and then welding on the bowl part later ? could you do it all one pice or is it just more easy that way?

I just think it is easier to flatten the whole section your working on instead of flattening 2/3's of it. Im sure you could do it without welding tho, but why not get the welding practice. That was my thinking anyway.:D

Well.....I was working on this piece....then i heard the dreaded noise. Went to try and fix it and hmmm, what do you know. Spent way to long on this piece. Im just pissed off and needed to share. :wes:

soon as you hear the noise, dont put it back in the fire.. stick it in the kiln at 1200 for like 10 min then pull it out and hit your crack,, I have huge success this way..

constriciting is pretty much condensing, you're just condensing the tube down to where the inside diameter is small enough so shit wont suck through. Just keep a smaller flame focused on one spot, constantly rotating, not pulling, not pushing, just letting the glass condesnse. Hope this helps!

N for as far as how I did the coloring. All i did was lay down half a tube with white. Then go over it with black. Also looks cool iff you use yer tungsten and rake it a bit.

Heres my second attempt. Talked to crip last night and well..The stem is a double layered honeycomb Dap over dark amythest. The stem it way to big for the can. It also push my little lynx over the limit so i couldnt do a second double layer section. Color looks cool tho, almost like a oilspill. Just another practice piece. The mib looks like a limp dick. haha

pop a hole in the end of the piece you are working on the same size as the hole you popped in the reversal, weld and shape. Thanks for the comments

Hey DD you seem to like the combs. I have been running lots of color combs of lat and have a few tips to shoot your way.

Do them just the same but put a layer of clear over the color before you dot it.

Then blow out paper thin and dot it up, if it rips its a tad to thin.

This will give you tons of depth with your dots.

What kind of torch you got.

Do it small scale first just line up a small blank and smooth it in.

Then do the clear case, I sleeve mine these days and smoothing it first lets me get it done with no bubbles.

What you end up with is a sandwich of color between clear.

If you had some solid color tube you can just clear case and go.

Any way you will take a small section and heat it tell its hot and rotate for a few tell it gets evened out so you can start puffing it out, I find if I just point it down while I blow it does not let it thin out on the front.

Then pay close attention to your spacing of dots cause as you condense the space inbetween the dots srinks.

I am sure you will love the look. The way you are doing them has its own look I like doing them the way you do on striking colors and then sandblast them.

First one is a stemless that Nubblet had me try out. Colbat with fume then honeycombed. Fumed Donut section.


Second one is my first bub. Thanks to Bryan for showin me how to do a downstem.

Then we have a lil sherly. DAP over white.

Then a Neptune sparkle sherly.

Then a momka Lustrous blue sherly. (This color is a bitch to work for me)

Then just a groupshot.

Freak, that color is NS rust. Love the color but it likes to pool a lot of metal on the surface and leave some uglyness on the piece. Like big chunks of metal.

Persimmon over white, can didnt strike as much as i would like but pretty happy.

Im just laying lines on 26mill half and half then encasing in clear. These were for practice to see how well I could control the glass.

Thing that pissed me off was on the unob/mint was they melted at different temps and it got sloppy on the can. Was a pain in the ass

It was supposed to look kind of like a gas mask thing. Didnt turn out the exact way i would have liked but hope you get the idea. The stem was not supposed to be uniform or anything. supposed to give it kind of a used look. Anyway check it out lemme know what you think. Was a good learning experience and the next one will be better
