hippi's progression thread!!!

a good way to make it straight with the dremel bit, is to come from the top of the blade and press the end of the tube onto the blade surface, almost like a flat lap wheel on a really small scale if ya see what im saying... but yea having a drip setup is essential to doing dremel work with glass, especially with the diamond blades, im sure u know from having a wet saw tho, lol

the way i make my female joints is flair even..shove my reamer to fit keeping remear butterd up with wax and rotating..to check fit, i shove a glass male buttered up..they can get stuck but wont if your carful.

the one you made looks on the right track just a tad deeper, and a slightly more even fliar.

well this bub came out of...it has some flaws..the base color section is to big shoulda been smaller with more of a clear bubble...and i had the perc to long so i added that middle color section.. but all in all it works well...main reason i made it was to try and put the tree percs in there.. ill be prepin more percs tomorrow

ya no slits in the trees...i dont have a blade skinny enough to cut slits in 6mm tube...i got a buddy that has one at his shop i was thinking of tryin out..i looked it up its like 400$ :( lol...sooo open ends will work for now haha..so far im lovin the how the rig above hits..it only has the 3 arm in it

Yo, Hippi nice bub man, i like how you put the 3 downstems in there, I think im going to give that a try man! try this blade out in a dremel to cut the slits for your downstems http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-545D-545-Diamond-Wheel/dp/B00004UDI9/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299707782&sr=8-1, Its wafer thin, and super easy to cut a slit 1/4 of the way thru the tube, then wiggle the blad back and forth to make it wider, upto as wide as you want them, plus you can make the D cuts like the pro stuff has

Hippi..as like others ive been keeping up with your progresstion,if your making small work , keep your glass clean plus just befor you start working its good to ...belive it or not wash your hands, not that your hands are not clean but the oil in your hands ... also try to get into the habit of wipeing down the rods . just one more thing ,cool your flame down you' ll stop the bubbles, that will help later.

I believe that is where you make you attachment let stiffin up a bit that work the weld in quarters.

yea it sounds and seems a little scary at first but once you start bridging your work will go so much smoother for you and look alot more like one piece. looks nice though man! just dont be scared and when in doubt put it bak in the kiln for a few...lol

Some suggestions - bridging is something you might as well start practicing now, it's better to fuck up on smaller things than something you spend 8 hours on (speaking from experience here :bangHead:)

Another thing, I like the diffuser holes you popped in your down stem, but I'd suggest popping a small one at the bottom, so you can push crap down when cleaning, other wise with just holes on the side you're gonna clog 'em up in no time...

Yea the constriction allows you to use larger diameter tubing without it being super breathy. Or you can use skinny ass 10 mil. Whatevs.

easily fixed...throw it in the kiln...grab it with ur claw....pick clean and round all the crappy broken joint...if this takes u a lil bit...maybe re warm in the kiln...then weld a new male...get it rippin hot so u dont gotta work the weld after...goood to go

not to dog on ya, cause it looks like you are really progressing nicely, but maybe consider making the "dishes" or "ashtrays" into suncatchers with a loop on them, might have an easier time selling em thus getting payed for all the valuable learning you are doing. shitty momment in the shop... CRACK cause i tried to put a wine glass base on the bub lol no more short cuts lol had to learn the hard way....wine glass was soft glass lol...tried to repair it but some of the glass was still on the base...

naw its cracked at the base cause i thought it was a good idea to try and attach a wine glass base..(from a real wine glass) which i found out later was soft glass lol...i tried to fix it the best i could.. removed the wine glass base and flattened the base but there was still a lil bit of the soft glass from the wine glass on the base which caused it to crack....

There's a few books on the topic of Glass and a few even warn about using unknown glass.

Probably was between 87 and 95 COE, with a short working time for rapid production line.

You'd have better luck putting a wine glass foot on a drinking glass.

ok its been a while...ive re-did and re-thought the style of my oil rig design.. heres what i came up with... a mini direct inject inline oil rig.. with kickstand/ handle for easy dabbing also has a matching 2 section dish.. colors are a purple fade on one side and tag green lepercaun with a one off color called sparkle monster.. hope ya dig it

heres lil rig i was messing around with.. its pretty much the size of the lighter..the mouth piece is about 1/4 taller.. just did a fire and earth color pull that ill proly make a few of these outta.. after tomorrow my studio will be down for a lil bit.. my exhaust vent on the roof started leaking again soo a roofer friend is comming tomorrow to take it off and seal off the roof and put more shingles down..

so while i wait for the new fan to come in the mail im gonna take everything outta the shop and clean it out and paint the garage floor with that garage floor paint with the color flakes in it... gonna add a new bench and finally hand the other hood i have thats been sitting for a while.. hopefully it all goes smooth..

man i didnt know how much shit i had in my shop... almost took me all day to sort thru the mess on my bench, picking out what glass i can still use and what to toss....pretty much towards the end i just started throwing everything away lol.. still got a lot to do to the shop.. im gonna start takin the torches down and take out the benches and sweep the whole shop really good.. then begin to paint the garage floor.. im ordering my new 3000cfm exhaust fan tomorrow.. cant wait to have this up and going again...been kinda boring and sad seeing my shop not workin lol... more to come soon!

Thats a cool sign hippi, you should make it out of tubing and then suck colored water into it, use more than one color they wont mix, then close it off on the end with ur smith torch.
