i started working with glass when I was 16 but didn't get to boro till I was 18...
as for college... if you want to do glass professionally, i think college is a waste of money personally. you'd be better off dropping money on lessons..
and your work is lookin good.. stick with it

Doing really well Davis. Keep it up!!!
So how did you get into glass?
Not much out there as far as Boro for college level fine arts.
I started when I was 18 at the furnace in Seattle.
yall make me feel like an old fucker..... just turned 26 and I'm just gettin my feet wet. Don't waste your youth vigor! Rock out that torch.

Check out Penland school of art in Penland NC. I went out there a couple times and it blew my mind. Its not a college, you dont get a degree, but they have boro classes as long as a couple weeks, to a few months. There is a work study program there too, where you help cook, and clean up, and it pays for most of your tuition. I cant wait until i can afford to go back there. Something about being that far out in the middle of no where surrounded by artists, and craftsmen/woman. Did i mention there is ALOT of girls there too? keep spinning

What Doc said. If you want to expand your mind artistically, there is a wealth of knowledge to be found. It is in a beautiful location in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and really close to Asheville NC. If I had a chance to go back and do it all over again. I would definitely spend some quality time at that school!!

dude your pendants are pretty good looking. I got my hot head when i was 16, got my red max when i was 17ish, now i'm 18 and got a mirage. I turn 19 in a month, who knows what will come. What i'm saying is keep rocking out, don't waste money on school. Explore your creativity. Try making something without any outside input and see how it comes out. When I was a freshman, I never would have thought I'd be learning to make pipes by junior year, fly to the degenerate flame off the day after graduation, and be self employed doing what I love after highschool. Keep torchin
^good read... all the right choices :D

I started when i was 16. I made so much money in high school taking kids pipes. If you want to go to college look at salem community college in NJ. I don't know about the art program there but the scientific program is awesome.

I took lessons from a local boro artist. He liked the stuff i did and asked me to work for him. I help him with production and shows, but i'm not gonna get back into pipes until i'm off probation in may. Hopefully i'll have enough luck to skip spoons and get right back into headies. I don't wanna make a living off pipes, i just wanna make a handful of them. Non-pipe art is more my thing.
So you've made pieces already? Dude, unless your a prodigy, you will make lots of prodo, or lots of half ass headies. it's the cycle. I try to do too many headies and find myself goofing up stupid shit like the carb. walk, then crawl. but shit, the pendants are fly, hope I am wrong and you are a prodigy
I also started at age 16 with a hot head in my best friends garage! Although looking back now its amazing we could even see through all the smoke that constantly filled that place : ) Anyway just pick up what you can, where you can. And get some $ together and take lessons from ppl who know what theyre doing. Last I checked Jason Lee only charges $100 a day for lessons and who could be better to watch??
Keep up the good work!

We'll see what happens with the headies. I really have no idea where i'm headed with my art. I'm graduating a year early so i'll be seventeen when i'm out of high school. I'm gonna be underage for awhile, and ideally i just wanna blow glass in my pajamas at my house all day long. Thats the life, right?

thats what id be doin if i didnt have to find other peoples houses to blow at. kinda just cuz i dont have anything else to do... ever...
nobody makes a living on pipes alone. but thats the fun in glass, you can do ANYTHING with it.
