I am currently using a Gtt Delta Elite. I was using a regulator called firepower, with my propane psi around 5 and my oxygen psi around 40. When I was working I had my glass 2 inches in front of the flame and a surge of pressure came through the tip of my torch causing a loud explosion sound and flames bursting off my glass into my face causing 3rd degree burns on the tip of my nose and inside my nose, also singing the hair on my head, chin, and arms. I have talked to Gtt, various glass supply companies, friends, griffin glass, and welding companies. Nobody has ever heard of this happening. If this has happened to anyone please reply. I need to figure out why this has happened. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

No idea why but I'm sorry to hear you were burnt.

maybe it was some carbon build up that broke free , shooting out with built up force causing some flame spray ?
Reg gave out letting a burst of pressure through ?
wrong flame , causing heat build up then soldering giving out or other thing going bad cause of over heating ?
that sucks .

lets see some pics of your regulators and propane tank, there are only so many things it could be. to me it sounds like your pressures are low but that wouldn't cause what you are describing. my first thought is something weird in your propane tank or lines.

Sorry to hear that happen! Was it a full propane tank? My torch pulsed for a little bit b/c there was too much pressure coming from the propane. Hope you went to the doctor for that. They have cream for bad burns. Possibly condinsation built up and froze inside the torch. You lighting that torch could have started melting it and when the gasses finally found an escape, boom......I'm just guessing though!
