I guess I need to learn about it. Can somebody please explain to me how they affect glass differently or point me in the right direction. Tried searchin it...no luck. Just trying to figure out what I need to know.

oxidation flame means more oxygen in the gas mix than propane

reduction is the opposite, where there is more propane gas in the mix than oxygen

It depends on the effect you want to obtain from the glass ( I am speaking soft glass here)

Here are examples of the SAME glass rod giving different reactions in the same marble.

It's best just to try both gas types and see what you get. Good luck!

oxidizing flame will reduce your colors , reducing flame will oxidize your colors .

look at the GA site and find setting a neutral flame . or search the color talk sub forum

Ideally work your colors in a neutral to slight oxidizing flame , some colors enjoy more oxy , and build the piece as hot as possible , then if you want to bring metals out wash it in a reducing flame .
