Lots of custies at bonnaroo.....I was forced to go last year due to phish playing, my first time back since the first year :) I made a killing with minimal effort. I just sat at my campsite with my cases open and they sold themselves. I think you'll do better at bonnaroo than wakarusa but wakarusa will have better music.
WOW, I am happy to be surprised, I just got an acceptance letter to vend at Bonnaroo!!! Didnt hear from Wakarusa yet??? I have to go and show my art and see what all those people think of it. If any glass artists from here are plannin on going I hope to meet yous and visit a little and whatnot... anyone been down before if you have any good suggestions or anything I would be thankful... much peace

cant vend pipes in the main area at bonnaroo. last year i talked to a bunch of the inside vendors and most were doing poorly in comparison to what they had to spend to be there. i sold across the main street. theres a bunch of private land there that locals rent to vendors and you can sell pipes on the locals property hassle free. good luck have fun, wear a money belt and keep you eyes on swivels cause theres thieves galore. i scared one kid so bad last year he ran like 50 ft then came back and returned the piece to where he took it from. :)
Jes are you going to be vending for sure? Im headed down this year and will have to swing by your booth if ya do.

This is very true, along with the fact that there is 100,000 plus peoples feces over 4 days that you get to walk through. My advice is bring your own toilet paper and lots of water.... Or better yet go to one of the 500 smaller festivals that are much friendlier and full of love.
YEP, you'll wanna bring some fresh spring water and your fav. TP too, kind like camping or something, but also mainly be prepared get shower tokens and get to them early before the line is a mile long.
I have fun at music shows and I would have gone back to bonaroo this year but its very very very far from here, over a days worth of driving down there. and electric forrest is happening up in these parts so I am trying to get into that one because I am a regional artist and think i have good things to offer, I will find out soon.
I tried to get into wakaurusa but it is full or she dont belive I dont make pipes or something, it dont know.
Also I love JAM BAND musics allot and even though bonnaroo has everything as far as music. There seems to be more glass collectors or people who appritiate glass art and know about allot of different techniques at a jamband shows too and tons more kind kids...
-All the wooks and zooks-
KATO
I am coming up with allot of new prototypes and things, would be cool to meet you and see your new creations too...
IT seems you have the right frame of mind for shows like these, (have a blast)
if you dont want to vend there or be around thousands and thousands of people in a mood to celelebrate you probably shouldnt, but it sounds like you wont be vending their if you dont want too anyways and its good to speak your mind, it helps others to make our vision.
I have this one friend and his plan is to just keep make things then wait for people to come to him... I thought this way is funny though!

I love festivals I'm all about love and family and live music, I go to at least one a month but I've never had a desire to go to a mtv owned festival like that... hope you all have fun, all who are going, but defiantly be aware of thieves and undercovers b/c they will be EVERYWHERE can't count on my hands and toes how many friends I've had robbed and or hassled out there....but to each his own, so have fun supporting corporate music and MTV and I'll keep supporting my local scene of music and family :guitar::guitar:

Jes.....the thing to do is not get a booth. People set up at their campsites, and along the most traveled roads there.
I sat in my campsite in 2003, and sold two cases before I could drink 2 beers.
I literally made 3,000 in about 2 hours. I was done, and stacked with spending loot before the first show I wanted to see even started.
Get there early, walk the camp roads on Thursday night. Find the hot spot, hit it and quit it.
Then go party!

lol...pretty sure he said he wasnt getting a booth at the roo this year...roadside rogue vending works...but jes is not slangin pipes...and i think could really enhance any music/art festival by presenting his wares in a legitimate setting for all to see....without hassle...bonnarooo sshmonoarooo in my opinion...that festy is overcrowded and hot as fuck in the middle of a cornfield...not to mention the rediculious lineups they come up with these days...there are plenty of festies elswere where you dont have to drive into the bible belt and risk your ass to join a bunch of hipsters rocking out to umphrys mcgee and my morning jacket...than walkin over to the kanye west show...cya at Electric forest Jes!

lol
I haven't been to Roo since 2003 for all the reasons you stated. Though, 2003 was when it was still a great lineup. Neil young and Crazy Horse put down one of the best sets of music i've ever seen there. I think any festy is what you make of it. Perspective is key.
Wakarusa is supposedly much nicer now, that it's in Arkansas. I went to Kansas twice. Had fun, but the cops were out of control there
10,000 Lakes is pretty sweet. Jes, you should hit that one. It's right in your home state. The Forecastle Festival in Louisville is good too. Glass vending right in the concert area. Most people I know have done a killing there the last few years.
Moe.'s SummerCamp isn't too bad either. Small, but big enough to draw a great lineup. I'll be hitting that one this year.
Jes, you had a great booth in Madison for Glassroots FWIW, had some great functionals to offer

oh, time for Bonnaroo?!?!?! time to make the pipebombs!
10,000 lakes was an awesome show, I vended their the last 4-5 years then last year they didnt do it and its all finished now :- ( but their is a new one at the same place called High Plans Music Fest, featuring our hometown heros "trampled by turtles" I like the established ones because many people will go and plan on going too.----I am gonna wait and see how it turns out, if great reviews maybe try for next year.:contempla
We should have a JAM-BAND FEST Thread so people know whats good and whats not so good too... and whats going on and whats finished and how each was after all is said and done...
Hope to get into Electric Forrest :jump:
today at 3:00 I am at a Native American Art Show and this weekend a POW-WOW and Native Art Show at the Grand Casino. hope they go good WOO-hoo:turtle:

hey Jes, are you Native? Im actually Lumbee
BOOZHOO,
HAHA, really, A Lumbee!
If I remember right Lumbee peoples have a very interesting history unique of the surrounding tribes.
YES, I am Anishinabe, is what we call ourselves and also known as Ojibwe.
My family has lived here by Lake Superior for thousands of years before migrating from Upper New York area around 5000 years ago, while following the 7 turtle island prophecy to where food would just be growing ontop of the water.
Where are you from?
The native art show was fun yesterday and I am very proud and more surprised to be the featured artist for next year, I had people all around my booth the whole time, tons of interest from the old timers and youth and some $$frogskins$ too.
I never meet many Native lampworkers or glassblowers so I am very happy you said something.
How do you say hello in Lumbee? we say boozhoo or aniin.
and thank you is miigwetch.
much peace and happiness for you...
Jes:chilling:
