hello again all you glass-heads
i'm very excited to announce the third GCGG is coming to the mountains!
responding to some feedback from last year, here's some changes to look forward to:
date: JUNE 25,26,27 (shouldn't be so damn hot up here yet----and there's still spring skiing AND mountain biking on whistler mountain if you're into it)
location: Redbeard's Ranch has moved!!! but only ten minutes further up the mountain road......the new property is HUGE (22acres), MORE SHADE, tons of camping, UNLIMITED ICE COLD MOUNTAIN WATER (gotta get some swamp chillers), and yes the goats and other critters are here, so y'all can get your goatacinno's.... **if you want to bring your dog, you MUST check in with redbeard**
food: i'm thinking low-maintenence, low-cost, self-serve options. there will be a NICE outdoor kitchen ready for you to use (OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS OR VOLUNTEERS ).....i'll raise some fresh chickens again..
cost: one MIlllion dollars each, to be 'held in trust' by redbeard
ok the cost is not figured out yet, but there will be some supplies provided, and some supplies you bring, and maybe some supplies available for sale.....price will be announced after sponsors are lined up......
Hopefully we can line up lots of great demos (volunteers?)
and get some of our american friends up here too. (color company rep?)
so here's the thread to give some feedback,
i'm told our website greatcanadianglassgathering.com is up and running still
who's got pics from last year to load?
thanks everybody for making this AWESOME event possible!

any american's going? Pretty sure I saw pictures of Matt Eschuke there last year... looks like a great time and a nice excuse to go to an area i've always wanted to check out. if someone else was going it'd be a nice little nudge...
not sure how much it'd all cost, but i'm interested.... would be nice

heya Lorax!
well i HOPE some americans represent, eh?
yup, Eskuche was here the first year, last year he had to cancel.....i believe his words were something like "best fuckin' guerilla glassblowing gathering" he'd ever seen. :)
can't describe enough how much fun we're having up here.....on private property, up in the middle of nowheres......kinda like the wild wild west
the cost should come in somewhere around 100.00 for full blowers package, includes gases, some clear and color glass, a ventilated bench, and maybe a big fat meal too.
spectator/camping package should be around 20.00,
there will be local, organic yummy food available (chicken grown on my farm), for VERy low costs.
if we can get more sponsors, the price goes down.....

why does it say 30 mins north of pemberton, i can find the addy on google maps really, seems to be two listed. it looks like 30 mins to pemberton from whistler... then 30 mins north? google map shows it at like 73mins past pemberton i think, and whats the roads like?
Braden Hammond
06-23-2010, 05:45 PM
it says 30 minutes north of pemberton because it is located 30 minutes drive past pemberton. the road is paved the entire way and redbeard usually puts a simax sign on the end of his driveway on the road. hope this answers you questions hashmasta-kut.... will you be attending the event? are you in BC?

i am on vancouver island. is it that there is pretty much only camping, it sounds like, is there no hotel in pemberton worth staying at? maybe i'll make it over saturday, im thinking about it.

you could stay at a hotel in pemberton but you'll miss the party....the glass tent rages all night and everyone gets real inebriated.... dj plays till 1 or 2 or whenever depending on whats going on. A glass blower from the island that doesn't want to camp??? mad strange?

06-24-2010, 08:48 PM
i dont have a tent i dont think. just because i'm a longhair from the island doesnt make me an avid camper by rule ya know. and this summer sucks. shit if it was last year i wouldnt need a fuvkin tent or nuthin'.

$99 bucks will get you a personal pop up trent at Canadian Tire... you don't even have to set it up. it sets up like poof done. just an idea you grubby hippie from the island haha just jokes.

hashmasta-kut
06-26-2010, 08:01 AM
i think we can make it by 4-430, you think people will be melting shit a lot later than that, or what?
hashmasta-kut
06-26-2010, 10:21 AM
well shit i dont think we are coming, cuz there are no clear directions. i have no idea how to get there. no maps show the address as exisitng. portage road only shows up in downtown pemberton. if no one can help in the next hour i think its unwise to drive somewhere in the middle of nowhere and not even a phone number or anything to help. i will keep looking a bit, but this seems ridiculous really.

Hey HMK
It sounds a bit daunting trying to figure out how to get up to redbeards but its not too bad once your out there. I wasn t up there last year but I was the year before. They had signs posted on the way up on telephone poles and whatnot. When you get into pemberton there is a petro canada that you could stop at to double check that you know which way to go. there is two ways out of pemberton, I m pretty sure you head out toward Mt. currie and then look for signs. I m going with basic directions and faith! They had a big simax sign outside of the property the year I went.
Think of it as an adventure, I m heading up today and the action goes well into the night so you shouldn t miss much.
hope you make it out, this is a great chance to hang with some of the canadian glass scene and we don t get that too often.
good luck Hippo.
