HI my name is Pat from Albuquerque. Just bought a torch and waiting on my oxy to come later on this week. Waaayyy excited to fire this bad boy up! I have been wanting to get into glass blowing since I was 10 and saw glass blowers working out on Vancouver island. I'm almost 20 now so this has been a huge anticipation. Have been searching the forums for months now and it just made me even more interested. I have had a lot of experience working with oxy-acetylene torches so I hope that I can pick this up quickly.

A little about me, i am a college student going for electrical & CPU engineering. Unemployed right now so I figure I should have lots of time to work with glass. I have always liked making art with trippy flowing designs so i figure glass will be the perfect medium for me. Probably going to try to learn to make some spoons and hammers at first to make some money, then move on to arwork. Any tips or points to forums would be appreiciated.

Thanks and hello melting pot.

Im also trying this for the first time and New as new can be. My Oxy was delayed which give me more time to set up other equipment and organize myself.
Best of luck

...I figure I should have lots of time to work with glass...

If you're serious about doing this, lots of time is pretty much a pre-requisite when you're starting out. You will have a lot to learn and keep in your head. Also your body will have to retrain itself to new unfamiliar movements etc and that only comes over time. Initially you'll discover muscles start hurting in weird places ...

welcome to the darkside, you'll probably never leave :evilLaugh

its about $25 a refill + $15 delivery i'm not out just yet but almost. Unless my gauge is off. But idk it read a bit over 1800 and then it went down to 1500 then 1000 now it is down to 400. It is a 337 cu.ft. tank and I have ran about 10-15 hours on it, maybe more. I did blast it for a bit there though...
How long do they usually last?
Either way I'm all for getting liquid o2 it's too much getting these delivered.
btw I know that there are no leaks on my lines or fittings.
