Hello all

I am a NooB setting up and doing glasswrok for the 1st time. Ha ha, my "i can do anything" attitude is catching up to me.
I am now the proud owner of a a previously loved Bethlehm Tiger Shark, An Aim 99 series Kiln and various Boro tubes rods along with some colrs, frit and metal for fuming. The torch is way more than i needed but i got a great deal on everything. (I think)

I have read soo much here and am greatful for all the fantastic people advice and support. Truly an amazing community.

I also have a question for veterans. How deep is your bech, or how far from the wall is your torch. I am wondering if i need to extend my current benches out a little further for safety's sake.

If the question belongs in a different section please forgive me.

Thanks
Darrin

if your wall starts glowing, your torch is too close, my torch is about 4 ft from the wall, I also have an extractor above the torch.
you're lucky to have so much info to draw from, not much of that around when I first started.
the "I can do anything" is a good beginning, but you will not be able to do everything right now ... it takes time. There will be occasions when you will feel like throwing the glass at your wall. "I can do anything if I persevere and have patience" is probably a better mantra for learning glass.
welcome to this alternate reality, have fun and enjoy the glass ... there's a heap of info out there and if you can't find the answer, just ask.

OK Glowing walls or 4'. I thought so after i started laying things out. hmm. but burning walls save on Propane and Oxy right?
