Has the merg of Glasscraft/Winship helped or hurt your accessability to supplies?

I really like both Glasscraft AND Winship, so I feel good about handing over my dollars to a 'family' I truly want to support. As far as accessibility, I haven't noticed a problem ordering from either one since the merge.
Winship is your local spot Styles - is the merge working for you out there in Oregon?

N8, I will keep my opinion to myself right now I wanted to know everyone elses perspective.
Hey Styles if you're not willing to post your opinion are you just looking to stir up a mess or what?
Sorry but I feel posts like this have other motives other than "finding out other's opinion." Like provoking others to talk negatively about a pretty important supplier online. I use Winship for a lot of things. I get a majority of my glass elsewhere but if they were not in Eugene I would be affected. The staff is great, knowledgeable and willing to share it.
Nut up and post your opinion before asking others.

I think Keeping my opinion to myself is the way to not stir up shit. I asked for poll info. I didn't ask if you like them or not. I asked if it has helped or hindered your supply chain.
The process of change effects us all one way or another.
I have been a GlassCraft customer for over 10 years and a Winship customer for over5 years.
People don't have to type an opion or choose to take the poll if they don't want to.

It doesn't make any difference to me.
I do understand that times are hard right now and people do what they have to do...
Best of luck on the new merger!

I've had great experiences with both companies over the years, and continue to have great experiences since they've merged.

i'm not sure yet. i like the glasscraft "club" discount applied to winship prices, but i'm so far back ordered i'm having to call accounts and change a few shipping dates. maybe this problem is unrelated to the merger, but i'm up crap creek without blue red and green tubing!

Here in Colorado, I see that they have WAY more stuff. they can also pretty much get whatever we want.. More herbies out here, more tools and I think there are more options for supplies in general..

Id say that the merger is a good thing. from a colorado shoppers point of view, the GC location has geared much of its sales, marketing, and stock on boro functional-art makers. With their upgrades in materials, tools, and email marketing I feel it is easier to keep up with all that is evolving in this medium. Not to mention the increase in bad ass classes that they are offering. In the past few years they only offered a couple of classes a year, and now they offer about one class a month with some pretty impressive instructors.
And I dont know about you but one thing that I haven't seen alot of around there is china tools. I recently picked up some Sustainable Designs tools there and I am nothing but happy. You get so much more from an american made tool over some china cheapness.....
I imagine the GC/WS has had some bumps in the start but with the dedication of its employees and their love for glass I feel like things are moving in the right direction as this "functional glass art" scene keeps sky-rocketing!
cheers,
Scooter

Who cares how you feel about this post.
How did any of the poll questions imply or provoke negativity?? It is a poll it could go either way! It is important for our community, to know the above information (poll Questions). Whether it be good news or bad. It benefits us blowers and the suppliers. From a small business owners perspective, I need to know this type of information to help me make informed decisions. If we never talked about our suppliers, then they may assume that there was no need to improve.

BZ, very well stated!
Who cares how you feel about this post.
I do for one. I'm sure a few others understand my point. I could of worded it differently perhaps. My point was at least say your piece.
Anyways Blade has opened the line of communication for Styles to vent directly to him or Dave. Styles have you called Blade or Dave? Thats customer service in my eyes.
I'm going kayaking. lol

Now there's a real douchebag response!
How did any of the poll questions imply or provoke negativity??
Honestly, I got the same impression Skip did. By Styles holding back his response, it implies that he's got something negative to get off his chest about the merger, which is fine, but it appears that he is waiting for others to start bitching first, which is overly dramatic.

Like I said, it is a poll it could go either way. An anonomys poll speaks for itself. Thats a lot more credible than just whining and complaining, or outright starting some beef. I don't know Styles, (so I'm not trying to take sides) I got no problems with GC/W-ship. (So i'm not downing them either) If you notice from reading this thread, some people are haveing more problems than others.

Styles is iight...which is why I gave him a chance to spill the beans before calling him out for being dramatic. Skip just keeps it real. Your opening sentence erked me a little BZ, but you made some valid points in the rest of your post. It's all good feedback for GC/Winship in the long run I suppose.

First Off Thank You Everyone For You Feedback! This Is Valuable Information For Us All. This Will Be My Last Post On This Subject.
I Just Want To Make It Clear That I Have A Website Devoted To Serving This Industry . I'm Doing Resarch On The Biger Picture.
I Have My Personal Thoughts On This, Wich I Will Still Keep To Myself. I Realize I Am But A Pebble In A Large Pond.
I'm Approaching This From A Journalistic Point Of View.
I Want To Know How This Effects The Entire Industry. I HAVE LEARNED THAT It Is Smarter To Ask Questions, And Be Open Rather Than Tell People How I Think It Is.

the problem is.. you are a vendor, and are competing for business with them..
because you have stuff for sale, it makes you very biased.. and it makes it very hard to believe that your just some glassblower trying to see what the community thinks.. you're doing market research.. and thats fine, but being more forthright will get you genuine responses..
its pretty weak to say " i have my personal thoughts on this" and not state them.. and then turn around and start a poll or a thread on it trying to get everyone else to divulge..
i've had my own probs with winship.. but i still find the need address the pureness and motivations of this thread.. its obviously devious..
i voted that i dont care.. but honestly, i like it, because with Blade working for Winship now, i feel my voice and concerns will be heard and understood..
no hard feelings styles.. i look forward to chilling next month..

I think the Merge was a good. I think people need to communicate more and be upfront, this will make many issues more transparent and help all of us be more willing to hear two sides of any story. I understand each company has its probelem but we are all human and all it takes is to understand the deal before acting. I think this would have been a great poll as long as the two companies who are involved know what is going on, they might have had time to write something to make people understand why they merged and how it is going to benifit our community.
Life is too short .

The merger has helped me alot so far this year .I have ordered things like simax and a scarab kiln that glasscraft did not have in stock but winship did and had them get it for me and i just go pick it up from glasscraft when it shows up .It has saved me some shipping costs for shure .I also like the fact that any colr winship might get that is an off batch glasscraft usually has it also. If they don't they will get it for you. I live an hour fro mglasscraft so i do most of my shopping there always have because i like to pick out my own colors and satutrations of colors .So its like having the winship and glasscraft ctalogs at one location.
