is it like when you get glass stuck inside the ports and you can the tip hot by running it and then imediately shut it off and stick it in water and the water makes the glass break up because of the rapid cooling. i don't know if the same thing works for silver..

i know that the first major/minor i ever got had silver all over in the bottom burner, and my dad was able to clean it up and get the silver out..

if you rage the burner up it might push it out it will look like spikes are forming out of your ports when it comes out you can clean it off and take your port cleaning tool and go over the ports. maybe doing it a bunch of times will help it.

yep it comes out but will contaminate work for a little bit, no big deal mount that bitch upside down and rage tell the silver drips out. then once the ports are pushing gas get your tip cleaner that looks like a drill and very carfully work back and forth not a full twist.

I cannot stress to go slow at first and with a back and forth thread tapping style this will pull out the silver shaving as you go,

o and make sure once you fire it up and drip you let it cool by running just oxy threw it and keep oxy or air running thew it when you do your tip cleaning.

I have cleaned more glass and silver out of nortels, gtts and working on a two ports clogged with a tip cleaner on a sargent.

Bet I get them to its all how you look at it really most you will fuck up is 195 for a new max head you go that route I will give you 50 for the red max head you have and make a hand torch peace

Yep I done a major for someone not long ago the same way but never recommend the take apart unless you are a tinkering type.

If can't change your oil on your car don't take your torch apart.

If you do minor repairs and know how to torque a head down well have at it cause it is the way they do them at the factory.

Ace Hardware Torch tip Drill set (http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1292551&kw=welding&origkw=welding&searchId=47416940483)

King Tool torch tip drill sets (http://www.king-tool.com/storefront/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5)

Be careful and use a bit smaller than the port your trying to clean and then use a standard tip cleaning tool.

can i slide on in on the redmax tip...? this seems to be rapped up...? anyhow bottom oxy knob is super hard to turn on, its sticking, so its got to be turned hard and when it goes on- its a real loud pop, i guess because its being turned so fast...So my apprentice is using the torch and it's jus buggin the shit out of me, and near giving me a heart attack every 2 minets- i tightened the nut behind the knob, lubed up thread of knob and wipped any exses oil away, but its still kinnda ruff to turn on...lots of moisture...any help would be great. tks
