Hello All,
Just to set the record straight I've seen a few knock off versions of my tool. I made two sizes that will score from 0-80mm+. Every single pair is built off 6" slip joint pliers and will last a lifetime. Due to a multitude of bullshit I physically wasn't able to make any for awhile and a buddy of mine was producing & selling them. The provisional patent expires soon at which point I could care less how many shitty Chinese knock offs there are. To hell w/ patents anyhow, that's not the point. I never intended to blow 10k+ on a patent before the provisional expired. It just sucks to see tool shop versions. I made a quality tool thats become a staple in my shop. Had someone taken the idea & put half as much thought into it as I did and possibly improved on it, I'd be the first to commend them. Please don't think I'm bashing you KT, I have much respect for you and all you've done. This is directed to everyone that has been selling sub-par crap and attaching my name to it. Thanks to everyone that supported me throughout the design & screw everyone outsourcing our jobs!
All The Best,
Mike-

...and if not, can you please share where to get replacement wheels? They don't seem to last as long as the pliers do, and I can't live with out my JAWS! :)

Michael,
Thanks for your words of respect.
I did not and do not intend to rip you off with my version of these. I was unable to get yours and had many customers that were constantly wanting these. I have a local toolmaker that I talked to and told him to come up with his own version.
Please understand that I meant no disrespect with these, I just needed to take care of my customers. I have much respect for you Mike.
Please call me so we can discuss this.

You can get carbide wheels on ebay, search for them there. I have seen blister packs with a few in it for around $5.
Michael, I talked to you I don't even recall how many months ago and never heard back from you. I would love to place an order for however many I need to make it worth your while. I talked to the guy you traded the design to in Vegas a month or so back and it sounded like all he did was change the design and essentially make them less valuable.
If the Original JAWS tool are available again please let me know.

Sorry guys, just got back in town. Hasn't been enough hours in the day this last year. Let me talk w/ Brandon & see where we're at w/ these. Hope to meet up later today. The replacement wheels- Originally I had a 1/2" carbide wheel in these, they were made by Plasplugs. They became increasingly harder for me to order and had to get them from the U.K. The latter sets were made with a 3/4" wheels that can be found at most home improvement stores. Both are around $4-$5.

I believe he's going to make more soon and his "jaws" cut up to 80mm tube. If you want a knock off you get what you pay for. I haven't tried Kiristen's version (or brandon's for that matter) but mikes make straight scores every time and can score around 30mm up to 80mm w no problem. And he is the original inventor of this tool and no set leaves his house with out being perfect from every aspect even polishing them up perfect
If you want the best some times you have to wait. But I personaly guarantee that if you wait and gets mike og version you will NOT BE DISSAPOINTED" and assure you its worth the wait. If you see you see my post on kristens tool post I've waited 7 months for the best jacks made in germany (according to the ventians/murrano's" with out hearing from them the entire time. ) And Gtt left me hanging for 8 months for a phantom w/ every month once or twice being told "the end of this month" or "it will be soon" and 10+ months for mirage & delta being told the same thing evey month. My point is when you want the best sometimes you have to wait. But it is definately worth the wait ( not that you have to wait anywhere that long to get these from mike) You will not only receave the best version avaliable, you will be getting them from the true inventor who put mad time( many many months in R&D) and a lot of money so you'll get the good karma from doing the right thing
As far as the person who said to "GET A PATENT" you are clueless about patents. to get a good patent, that will hold up in court, costs $10K+ and mike would have to retail them for $200+ a piece and he still would have never made that money back. Us board members should have enough integrety to buy from only the creator, unless some one spent a lot of time and money to inprove the tools performance and design. If thats not the case then you shouldn't buy the knock off aside from doing what is right (and keeping good karma) you wont discourage people like mike and I from releasing all these other tools we have in the works that will either make something easier, quicker or could revolutionize lampworking as we know it. But if people keep supporting the knock offs, as I said before, we'll let the rest of the lampworking world go with out these amazing tools we're working on and only keep them for ourselves and say to hell w/ everyone else. Which would be a true shame as our inventions could inspire others to create something else that would revolutionize the lampworking world even more.

Mike, are you gonna be making the smaller tool (the one that looks like a pair of pliers)
and fyi, it doesnt cost 10k to get a good patent that will hold up in court. My dad holds a bunch of 'em for various musical instrument parts that he has designed over the years and I know for a fact that he did not pay near that much.

oh, and also, its probably not a very good idea to threaten potential customers, thats just my 2cents..

Listen- I don't care about the whole patent, hold up in court, sue him or her, dad said it would work thing. There's been a few snags and a bunch of miss comunication but if everyone can hang tight for a bit, I'll have tons of both sizes ready soon.
