i decided to treat myself to one of these jim moore tools i keep hearing about...ive never used any of them and im not sure which one i should try out first...what is the most practical tool to help out with pipes and vessels? Standard diamond shear, compact diamond shear, cup shear, or his tweezers?

don't forget diamond sheers too.... You will want them!!! I'd prolly start with the cup shears though.

i don't like my jim moore diamond shears. they rust. i don't know if you shouldn't use stainless 304 steel for glass tools or what, but that kinda stainless won't rust.

Just rub your tools down with a gun rag every few weeks... Keeps 'em looking shiny and nice!

so what is the main purpose of those diamond shears anyways? can you use them to constrict sections or are the just for cutting big gathers?

Diamond shears are primarily used for constrictions. They're also great for contricting and chilling a specific spot, then supporting that spot while you knock one side to break it off...

Regarding diamond shears for lampworking, Carlo Dona makes some REALLY nice ones which are smaller than standard bench diamonds and don't have the punty-grabber, so they're a lot lighter and easier to work with at the torch...
