Today's event at the glass center was amazing, much thanks go out to the Asheville Glass Center and especially to Logan and Alex for providing the outlet that the locals need to really get crazy and make things happen. Here are a few pics of the action... James Yaun, Shannon Norris (snoop), Alex Greenwood, Shane Smith, and myself collaborated on a giant marble intending for it to be an event to bring the community together so that the local artists can mingle and get to know each other. Thanks must also go to Marty Christiansen who jumped in a bunch when we needed him.

This is me Snoop and James gathering up a bunch of rod to mob up as much as possible aiming for a 6 inch marble or bigger while Mag and Logan look on...

Irene helps gather the glass with Probstein's photo help and Shane creates artwork:

All in all a great event, any time I can hang with those guys I'll drop everything and do it... big ups to: Adam and Melissa Wells, and Noah, Magnum, and Veg, Jason Hoyes, Marty and Tracie, Keith Minguez, Cameron Reed!, Bronx and Dana, Peter Piper, Roger Parramore, Chris and Steve from Mtn Glass, Josh Kitchen, Karen and Steve Miller, Scott and Josh from Augusta (root), Graham Lawing, Probers, and anyone else who attended who I can't think of. And also Joe Blanchard from Mtn Glass because it was his vision and intention that this should happen and continue to happen and we couldn't have done it without him.

Peace- Matt Tyner and Irene Redmond.

Yo Josh great addition! I love the pic of the outside we didn't think to get a pic of the building. What an amazing building, those guys got lucky when they locked down the top floor.

You're thinking of Josh Kitchen.. who is an amazingly nice guy and wonderful artist. We are the other Hendersonville Kitchen that confuses the local oxy folks.

Absolutely, Also happening soon is Shane Smith and Alex Greenwood and Logan MacSporran doing a Cold Beer/Hot Glass ARTMob with the Asheville Art Museum as part of their ongoing effort to bridge the gaps between the museum and the upcoming artists of the area. Its happening this Thursday May 20, 2010 at 6:00pm at the Phil Mechanic Studio, Asheville Glass Center with a $5 beer donation. So far Shane is planning on putting together a large goblet. and I don't know what else will happen, probably what ever we decide to do with our time.

i'v seen some of james yuan's marbles at the tucson bead show. really massive marbles, with some sick, clean fumework spiraled up. very impressive works.

as i recall he said he used a cobra or viper and a delta to preheat the rod as he feeds in full rods of glass. i think he said he would go through dewars in a few days, easy.

always loving those gigantic boro marbs.
