Just curious but, is everybody pretty busy here?

Painful as it is, as an importer of raw materials from China for a living, transit times and costs have gone through the roof for shipping lanes from China to the west coast USA.

Last week it was explained to me by 2 different customs brokers I work with that the cost of importing a 40' container from China just got 50% more expensive.

I was just made aware that on June 15th, they are adding another $400 surcharge to all shipments in that lane. That surcharge is because it is peak season.

do they have to put more traffic signals up out there in sea to manage all the traffic and that makes it more expensive...or is the waterway under repair and someone has to bear the costs of filling up the water holes? Are ships leakier in peak season...or it just takes twice as many men to keep a look out for all of the other ships out there?

LOL ........................ You can stop every last drop of Chinese Import glass and the American glass blower will still be hurting. While I know some moron will >cough, cough< disagree with my sentiments but : There is a recession in America and with a >cough, cough< 10% unemployment rate glass pipes are not a highly sought after commodity. I tried mine fryed, boiled and baked but have yet to find a recipe that taste good ..........................

Oh and stating you are an importer of Chinese goods is sure to make you the most popular guy on this board..................

ROFLMAO

All that waste created by all the overseas shipping and the economic state of the world will surely spell disaster. Just sayin.

I am a raw materials supplier not a finished or semi-finished product supplier.

I already know I am the most popular guy on this board next to Doug and possible Cupcake.

Adam is the man. Whether he deals with China or not he has helped out a whole bunch of American glassblowers.

Business is constant and good by the way.

So that means the buck will pass down and price on it will go up.

I think price point is what sells china glass.

the clear anyway
