ok i have been lampin on my own for about 10 months now, and i seem to have hit some kind of a wall. i continue to improve on what i already know, but as far as picking up new techs i am in a slump or something. i lurk around this board trying to pick stuff up, and have learned a bunch from all of you who are so willing to share info, but lately i have come to a point where i'm just not gettin it. i read about some of the techs you all describe and its like it might as well be written in chinese.
i am looking for a local blower (Seattle area) that would be willing to let me in there shop for some instruction. for a fee or for glass or whatever. i am not looking for the "this is how you lite your torch" kind of instruction. i have only been doing this for less than a year but i have picked up at least a few skills.
i do mostly prodo because quite frankly that is what sells for me right now. i do i/o spoons mostly but my real passion is marbles. i work dichro on a regular basis and rarely burn any of it. i use alot of dichro filigree cane that i make myself. i am not inept just needing some inspiration or something. is that dumb?
i am a quick study and all i am really wanting is to watch. i have found that if i only see a tech enough times to know the A B C, 1 2 3's of it then i can take that info away with me and practice.
so with all that said, is there anyone in the seattle area willing to offer up instruction?

You couldn't tell from your glass you've only been blowing 10 months...
You can come down here to portland for lessons if you'd like, but i'm sure someone up there will offer up lessons.

I may have to go to WA next month to get some stuff from storage in Olympia. If you are interested, I'd possibly be willing to travel up there to Seattle in January for 3-5 days. You'd have to arrange my room and board while I am there, but if you made it worth my while, and your shop is ventilated well, I'd be willing to help you out with some 1 on 1 lessons on whatever I know. PM or Email me and we can discuss this further. Links to my galleries and work are below...

Unless I'm getting you mixed up with another nate, I saw what you showed me at momkas...
Yes we do 1 on 1, pretty much only 1 on 1 lessons but very rarely groups.

jusbag... where are you at? my last shop was cold like that also, so i am used to it. right now i just found out that my new place i just moved into has CC&R's that are 30 pages long. it is against the home owners assoc. rules for me to set up at my house (inside or out) so i am also looking for shop space to lease. any suggestions?

I'm in seattle. My studio is at a friends house in north seattle. I don't usually invite too many people over for safety's sake. Heard way too many horror stories. You seem cool enough though. Maybe if I could come meet you and judge your character first :). Lol... Hard not to sound like a dick, but I just have to be very very careful as it has taken me years to obtain the toys I now have. As for shop space I don't really have any leads for you. Maybe check with Momka's and see if they have any space for rent. I'll keep my eyes open though. Maybe PM me your phone # and we can chat about it on the tele.

my wife and i looked at a house in snohomish when we were looking to move about a month ago. the place was great just not big enough for all of our kids. that place had a great shop set up for glass out back also
tell you what though i am wishing now we had made that work because i am kind of screwd for a place to set up now.

This little house is North of Narysville.. There is a lot of glass blowers around Snohomish and Monroe areas. They often shop here, so its nice to meet all the glass blowers. I'd say Between Seattle to Bellingham we have about 100 glass blowers working in those areas

Hey Nate,
I am 10 miles south of Olympia. We have bench space if you need some time, and liquid Oxy to hook up to. Shoot me a e-mail if ya want to hook up sometime and blow some glass.
