Hi folks.
Doni Hatz will be joining us this year. For those of you that don’t know her, she is the scientific glass blower for Proctor & Gamble, and also does some AMAZING artwork incorporating solid sculpture with scientific seals.
She has proposed several demonstrations for our guests. We probably won’t have time to do all of them (we're pretty packed with demos), so please let me know which one you would like to see:
1- "Coils: Big and small"
This would include showing how to wrap coils from 1 inch inside diameter to 5 inch inside diameter.
Last year at Las Vegas at the International Hot Glass Invitational her team… that included Julie Riggs… made a sculpture that included several 5’ inside diameter coils. This was made into a kinetic sculpture and had the coils rotating around with little glass people inside the coil.
2: Floral ring seal sculpture.
There is a cool floral hollow paperweight Doni has been playing with. It is a floral collage inside a tube sealed to a flat bottom, then sealed to another tube... the final shape looks like a paperweight but hollow.
3: Tropical fish goblets.
The stem is a fish (4-5 inch length) the cup is sealed to the top of its head, and the bottom fin flows into the foot.
Yhanks in advance for your input : )
