Hey everyone, I've been lurking on Melting Pot for a long time, always enjoying the glass talk and artists' insights. Some may recognize my nickname from other places. Every once in awhile I'd like to throw out a comment, but never do because I always think of this as an 'artists only' forum.
So I guess I'd like to post in threads occasionally, but want to make sure everyone are cool with it before I do. :o:

Hi c0
IMHO It's the collectors that buy the things we make. I make alot of marbles and love to hear what the collectors think of my creations. So...welcome to the board and post away.
Jerry
post pics of your collection and say what you want, its a free country for a little bit longer.

Welcome Welcome!
what Kage said ... minus the country bit ... I'm in a different country ...
post up some pics, as long as you're not a collector of match books, buttons or Hummel figures, coz that'd just confuse me!

Thanks everyone. I'll try to post some pics of my favs from my collection which is mainly marbles, but I really love some of the pipe art being made today and "need" to add some of those too!
Have thought about taking some torching classes just to see if I'd like it, but think it'd kinda ruin the mystery of it all. Like christmas after you know there's no santa.

Nice of you to ask before hand! I agree with the rest you are more than welcome here as far as I'm concerned it's a good thing when collectors want to be a part of the community! That's one hell of a collection! How long has it taken you to amass that?

Honestly, you're the type of person that I, personally, prefer to do business with. I love customers who know their shit when it comes to glass and can carry on a conversation.
On the contrary, I don't mind educating customers about glass, more specifically my work. But it is nice to not have to explain stuff all the time.
You're more than welcome here. Yes, most are artists, but some aren't. Be careful though. You might just end up with a glass studio if you hang around too much. :D

incredible collection of mibs.
warning, i started lurking on here as a collector/wood guy and i now have a full blown glass shop built on the back of my wood studio. i spend every free minute i have doing something glass related now. you melting pot bastards, i hate you all. love you all, hell i dont know anymore.
run while you still have the will power, ha ha.
actually, i am for sure kidding. welcome aboard and if there are any questions just ask. most will answer with honesty(sometimes brutally so) and there is unlimited talent among the artist on this board so you have stumbled onto the right place if you want to add to you badass art collection.
hope you dont have any plans with your freetime for the next week or so. that is what is gonna happen to you as soon as you start searching this site. you will be at you comp for hours gettin hours to questions you didnt even know to ask.
later, jay

Yeah but soon after realizing Santa's true identity most kids figure out how to more effectively put the pressure on the big guy :)
Marbles are awesome to collect, but beware, this can lead to paperweight, and sculpture addiction as well. Dont even get me started on the bottomless rabbit hole that is the world of vessels.
Marbles are classified by the FDA as a "gateway glass"

Thanks everybody! I think I bought my first marble about 8 years ago, a Mark Matthews, then another about 2 years later and then about 5 years ago I discovered LOTS of people made them and got hooked beyond help. As far as other things, I have a few really sweet beads and pendants, and a couple cool small sculptures. I really like a lot of the pipes being made now and plan to add some of those to my collection when I can fit them into my budget.
