check out my youtube instructin vid. under glass illusions llc......
i threw my "rainbows in space" video up on there. it was my first video in which i did the filming and editing myself so it's nothing awesome, but i figured glassblowingtv.com would be a better home for it than youtube. thanks for the opportunity, i was just turned onto the site a couple days ago and so far i like what i see. good luck with it!

WOW! Thank you. This is awesome. I am glad to see that the videos I am making have some qualities that other viewers find interesting. With my videos, I am trying to give back a little to the glass community, that I learn from, enjoy, and love so much. And this is really cool to be rewarded for the effort. It makes all that time spent editing worth the while.

Cool vid BZ ............. On the ISO what size tubing is that 22 or 25 mm? What do you do break your tubing up into 1/3's and when your working section gets too short you just weld it onto another short. I only ask because of the two visible weld rings in that tubing.
bzglass
07-02-2010, 11:50 AM
yeah byron, The tubing is 25hvy. This is the way I came up blowing glass. When I started the crew I was working with had no real lampworking instruction. I never knew what a point was for at least a couple years, like 2001 or something. Anyway we improvised, we put a blow hose into a rubber cork and stuck it into the bottom of 25mm tubing. And rolled like that all day= massive forearms. Yeah and I break it into thirds.
Turns out this method is a real time and materials saver, (no time spent pulling points, and no wasted point material. when the tubing gets to hot to hold in your hand, just weld it to the end of another, and you get a couple more pieces out of it.
Good observation, thanks for asking. I figured someone would ask about it.

yor video was very informative bz, we appreciate you putting it on the site. i also prefer this tubing method to pulling points, just seems easier, and cleaner.

sweet resource . i had a few questions for you, glassblowingtv....
are you and or your staff glassblowers, if so, what type of work do you mainly do? this might affect the types of work you appreciate more when judging the monthly winner.
i haven't seen but a few video thus far and so stop me if i'm wrong, but will you be allowing piping videos and scientific glassblowing, like non smokeable labware? or is there an emphasis on non functional art works?
this site seems very cool and i like any and all free resources, are there plans to eventually charge a membership fee?
it seems like alot of free resources, on the net, seem to end up charging eventually, or offering limited access to non premium members. it is an understandable business model as a free resource business grows it has to pay the bills.
i was just curious about the organization, and your angle if any, other than offering a place to share glassblowing videos.
i hope this all came across respectfully and with the tone i intended. i'd just like a little background. i'm quite intrigued and want to praise your efforts, as well as the site name itself, very straight forward.

i also wanted to say, and maybe its my computer setup, but it seems like you can't fast forward or skip around in the videos.
if this feature isn't available i think it should be.

yes riley, everyone associated with glassblowingtv are glassworkers, a mix of flameworkers, and off hand studio glass blowers. when we say created by glassworkers for glassworkers , we mean it. we try to take into consideration every aspect of a video before selecting it. in other words, you dont have to make the coolest peice, or most difficult technique, to win, while videos do have to pertain to some sort of glasscraft, they could be funny or entertaining videos, about glasswork, just as easily as informative and technical videos. no, we dont discriminate against any type of glassworking, im a total glass junkie, and as far as im concerned, any type of video can be on our site, even if it is just kilnfused glass, although glassblowingtv.com is our name, we dont want to keep any glassworking professional from using our site. btw, there are only two winners in the contest so far,we just started it two months ago. as far as charging, no. if i ever have to charge membership just to join the site, i will not run it. this idea started with the idea of making everything free, we're not even planning on trying to clog up everything with advertising untill it is absolutely necessary. wich, btw, if you have any kind of website with substantial traffic, advertising DOES become a necessary evil. ive tried to answer all your questions the best i can, i appreciate your curiosity, and want to let everyone else know that if you have any questions, anyone can pm me. glassblowingtv was meant to just be a video sharing site, but not for hundreds of thousands of views on your vids from the whole of the world population, but sharing and connecting with other glassworkers the world over, so your viewers are an "educated audience" so to speak.sorry for the long post, im gonna step down off my pedistool now.

its too bad, but i think we are gonna stop the contest for a while after this month. october will still go through as planned, however, we arent seeing the enthusiasm for the contest that we hoped for in the beginning. there arent enough entries to justify holding the contest anymore. too bad. just cant even give money away! :D thanks to everyone who participated! we will start once again as soon as we get enough steady content to justify it! check back here for this months winner!

I have had an awful lot of trouble uploading vids, finally got my tearing tut up but it doesn't seem to matter if i use firefox or chrome but 90% of the time I just get an error after it sits there for about 10 minutes. Still going to try with (shudder) IE to get the rest of my vids up, but its just a real pain if they are a fairly large filesize.
getting a new camera soon with HD video, im sure i'll post up some videos then. i'm surprised people aren't submitting more videos though.
