i just bought another sandblaster off the bay last night for a price that was too good to pass on.
its a soda blaster actually with hopper and reclaimer.
plus it has a glasspasser function to allow engraving on sheet glass up to6 feet wide by 8 feet long. i love new toys.
thing is like brand new condition and i got it for an unreal price. love getting a good deal.
glastar sells the system without the reclaimer or hopper for $2800.
another $1400 for the accesories. $4000 or so for the entire system.
i got it all for $312. couldnt believe i got it for that price. he had it listed wrong and i was the lucky bastard to get it.
i may resell it it for a nice profit but i am intrigued with the idea of making some nice background components to my art out of engraved sheet glass.
hmmn, woodsculpture, lampworked sculpture and engraved glass panels in one piece. i see something coming together.

you matt,
you are welcome anytime my friend. i have 3 blast cabinets now. one for metal, one for glass and now this new beast for panels.
crazy shit is gonna be coming out of my shop soon.
i also, just got a gast pump and 120 gallon tank to make an o2 reserve from my generator like the one flaming balls uses. his is 60 gallon and he can run a delta for 3-4 hours so i figure the 120 gallons is good for the day or i will have the ability to run two deltas at once.
big flames coming soon. and lots of them.
i got my tall 30 inch kiln too so we really can push the limits a little.
call me and we will set it up. i hope to have the new blaster in the next week.
later, jay

Lets give this project a try. LED Door Project (http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=142491) It could be really cool and intricate with the right masking and layering multiple images. Plus using your blaster instead of the dremel used in the tutorial would make a much better image quality with really tight lines.

without a doubt there are some real art possibilities with that tech and this blaster.
have you ever fucked around with any led projects before?
i will have the blaster in my shop next week and like i said i was gonna resell it but now i got so many new art ideas running through my head.
i think i am gonna have to make something in it , even if i do decide to sell.
like i said it was a spur of the moment purchase because the price was too good to pass up. who knows , maybe i was meant to have one.
it will take some planning to do a multi panel piece but i am up to it, if you are.
later, jay

come on over and we will add to the movie with some whacked out , off the wall blasted panels.
on a differnt note, i have a question for all you out there that have already established a name and logo for your work.
since i am a custom woodworker and now have this bad ass panel blaster: my thoughts are to build custom display cases for the headiest pieces and have glass panels with your logos blasted in them and who knows , maybe even lit up with the led panels that matt pointed out earlier??
i have tons of high end, figured woods that would look great as a display and i can build each one to suit the style of work to be displayed.
for example if you sell a lot of shirlys i make stands to set them on in the case or a nice spoon rack, custom engraved slide holders and then overhead lighting to really make the work in the case pop.
options are limitless really.
they wont be real cheap but i think they can really get the customers eye which in turn could lead to much better sales.
i will be making one with my stroker glass works logo and using it in the local shop i am selling in.
ill post pics of the case and the options i am including with mine so you can get an idea of what i can do for yours.
always thinking of new ways to get my work in front of someones face.
thougts?? suggestions?
thanks,
