a cc should be plenty big. Just a jar you can cork to keep supplies in. Maybe the size of a large prescription bottle.

If you have a regular cc or a cc+, You're really not limited to 6" just stack 2, 6 inchers together. Really youre limited by your kiln size, or skills set, not youre torch.

Ok so let's see. To put a little oganization in to it. Please PM me your name, address, and phone number. on July 26th, one week from today I'll write you with who you're going to be sending your jar to. I will make a list and each person will send their jar to the person below them on the list. The last person on the list will send their jar to the first person on the list. The reason for such a short entry period is Agi. I know alot of people are going myself included and I would like to get this project done and in the mail by then. So if you want to enter please pm the following info, name, address, email, and phone number. Remember it must be a functional corkable jar able to hold spices. I figure large prescription bottle size. If you wanna go bigger that's cool, but I don't think that the jar should be any smaller.

seeing as jars are one of my favorite projects, this might be a good time to join in on the swap thing, only problem i have is finding corks... i have one thats 3 inches at the small end, and can get some 1 inch corks locally but would prefer ones like 1.5 to 2 inches across... anyone know a good source?

Seattle pottery supply I know carries various size corks. It's where I get mine. I don't know I they have a website but I can get their number for ya if you like. Michaels craft stores also carry them

yeah, the nearest michaels is about 40 miles one way for me and they suck/never seen corks over .5 inch there, so... not an option...

uh, faded, thanks for the link, but i can drive to a big city and buy nicer corks for so much less that i would still save money even after fuel... my ideal price point is around a buck...

many years ago i could get corks in all sizes, shapes and quality for just pennies from several places... what the hell happened?... did we cut down all the cork forests?... or has demand simply dwindled in the age of plastic?

those are "bark corks". they are meant to be rough on top. they cost more because of that.

but seriously, i really don't want to turn this into a huge deal. it's taking away from what this thread is really about. i'll walk away now. :)

wow, i knew i became a recluse for a reason... heres my deal:

first- @faded... i never said *your* corks suck... they are not what i want and are two to three times more expensive than i am willing to pay... also, i have made jars for a long time and have used those types of cork before and have been told by store owners and customers alike that they prefer the smooth, hard corks (and i have actually had this happen to me: i took some jars with the smooth corks to a store, they had some other jars already with the bark tops, went back later, one of my jars was there with a bark top in it, store owner gave my smooth cork to a customer who preferred it over the bark top but wanted the other guys jar), so honestly, i meant no offence... even though i am an excellent offender...

second- concerning perceived value, does anyone do these trades thinking they are going to sell the piece they get? if so, please explain cause i dont understand why... i plan on making a jar that would fetch well over a hundred dollars in some of your hoods, but i dont expect everyone to, and will be keeping whatever i get in trade for my collection regardless of how much its worth in dollars... really, whats the point of trading with fellow artists if all you are going to do is send out some prodo work, putting some arbitrary maximum value on the pieces traded?... conversely, i dont expect anyone to drain a whole lox tank over a week making a quadruple blown no side out kryptanium majic jar worth a huzzillion dollars either... i just figure everyone is doing this to inspire, and possibly conspire, with their fellow blowers in which case you would want to do the best work you can within reason...

Good point. Use the skills you have to make a nice jar, something you would be proud to stuff w/ stuff. Don't try and over do it, and don't try to make something that is beyond your skill set. Just make something nice
and have fun with it.

These trades should be for adding to our personal collections, that's where the value is. Not $$$$.

Hey GlassTree I got the jar, sorry I had to unexpectedly go out of town for 2 weeks hence the delay. Awesome jar I love it thanks man!

I just made mine last night ,gotta run by the shop and get it sent out. I actually made a really nice jar with a reversal window in it but got in a hurry and didnt garage it when I should have and it exploded on me, so I ended up making another without the reversal window cuz I didnt have any of the tube pull left. But I did throw some sparkly dichro in it.

Here's my sweet little jar from Kato.... silver fumed cobalt?(I believe) or some funny blue amper purle kinda color? roughly 3" tall....(sorry no ruler in front of my computer)

Here's the two jars I received, but I'm not sure who they're from, since it was shipped from a pottery studio. Left the cell phone in there for size reference. Small one has a nice stripe of an aventurine in there. The larger one is off-hand, I believe, and I hope to fill it someday!
