Hello All,
I've never made them before and had a request for a couple of them. I have searched the forum and could not find info on a good ramp schedule for them. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

If you go buy contemporary lampworking, it will have all the annealing answers you could ever want.

i've been trying to find a joke to make on this thread, but i failed so far. i never made a bilbo yet myself.
Mods please delete this thread
It's only been up for three hours... There's bound to be more decent responses...
The annealing schedule is going to be determined by the thickness... I would assume to use a schedule comparable to a marble of similar OD....
Marble makers care to chime in here?

I would NEVER sell a dilly to be used without checking it out with a polariscope just to be DAMN sure it's stress free.
YOu don't want that breaking inside of someone and them coming after you with lawyers. Just sayin'.

That's a really nice, slow cool for the dillies. How long does it take? Just out of curiousity.

Bout all day....it was long. Booiiiinnngggg! I did the math one day and it works gravy for me. The first one I made Year 2 I ramped down just as fast as a pipe and the whole dilly spyderweb'd checked. It's all in C.L..... use it, it'z strong BoooIIInnnggg!!!.......Slick420
Ps...I'm using the melt bottle setting right now for 2 glass coke bottles. That take's all day for real...I just reviewed it all today. Remember the 2 segments in the 2" AP dilly settings are specific to AP. If your not striking out...skip it.

You could always just make a few and test them out seeing if they break off inside you :twitch:

I've been making and selling toys for about two years now. So far, no issues. Here's my annealing schedule (for pieces approx. 1.25-1.5" diameter).
Hold at 1000 while working
After putting last piece in, ramp up to 1050 full speed. Hold for 4 hours.
Ramp down to 900 at 60 degrees/hour
Ramp to room temp at 150 degrees/hour
I do have a polariscope but haven't used it in a while. I used it a lot at first when I was fine tuning my annealing schedule. Once I checked maybe 100 finished pieces and found them to be acceptable stress-wise, I haven't really found a need to check them since then. Occasionally I'll check one but haven't found any that weren't acceptable in a while.
Of course, I take no responsibility and make no guarantees if you use this schedule...
