I have been looking all over the net for this and I have not found it yet, maybe I am just not using the correct phrases, but how long has the Vortex style marble been around? I have read up on alot of history about marbles but I was actually curious as to the name of the person that first made one or if its something thats been around and passed down from generation to generation.

I get asked alot if I invented the vortex and say "I wish" then I tell them that it wasn't me, and then they ask who did, and I don't have an answer to that so I was curious so I could be more informative to people that ask me when I am at a show with my wife.

Thanks,
James

Just tell them that you did. It will help sales!

Would rather be honest about where the style came from and only take credit for what I put into it. I guess I just like to know who was the first to do what I am doing so I have bits of history to share with people that come to the booth.

I guess I should have put a smiley face or something, I was only kidding.

I know you were ;) , didn't mean to get on the defensive there either. Ever since I first saw one I have wanted to know where it originated from and how long have they been around but so far now one can tell me.

We had a really good thread on the vortex on GA. With the ezboard hack we lost the information that was posted there. With glass going back many hundred of years individuals are slow to step forward and wave their hand as inventors of many techniques. That being said, it is known that Kevin Ogrady started playing with the vortex technique in 1992-1993. Kevin showed the tech to his good friend Ross Dunning. Both Ross and Kevin have continued to develop the technique. CraiG

Cool, learn something new everyday. And I thought I wouldn't learn anything today. :nerd2:

Thank you for that information. Always nice to understand where some of the concepts or ideas you play with everyday originated from.

And thanks to rustyglass for helping keep this post in visible view for me :D.
