Hi folks. As I promised in earlier posts, we are starting “The Wonka Scholarship Fund” to further the education of glass workers. I consider this offer as a “step one” for our goals, and I would like to start by helping out my fellow veterans. Elaine and I are setting aside (1) “A” ticket, and (1) “B” ticket for AGI 2011 to the brave men and women that hat have served our country.

If you are interested in attending next year’s event as part of “The Wonka Scholarship Fund”, please read the guidelines below to see if you qualify:

-You must be a first time attendee of AGI.

-You must be a participating member of this forum since May 1st, 2010 (charity begins at home)

-Provide a copy of your DD-214 (block out your SSN… we don’t need that)

-Provide a copy of your valid driver’s license

-Provide a link to your web site and / or gallery, or send photos of your work.

-Write a letter as to why you would like to attend AGI which includes how long you have been working with glass, and if it’s your part time hobby or full time profession.

-Any other personal and / or professional information is not required, but it will help you in the decision process

*Your ticket is NOT TRANSFERRABLE under any circumstance whatsoever.

If you meet these criteria, please forward your application to the address below:

**Important: No e-mail submissions will be accepted**

I give you my word that your personal data will be evaluated in the strictest of confidence, and all paperwork / information that you supply will be destroyed after the scholarship is awarded.

In light of our new endeavor (http://www.talkglass.com/forum/showthread.php?p=559977#post559977), we are temporarily suspending our scholarship program until we get a grip on our current debt situation. In some ways I am disappointed to do this, but I am even more disappointed that we have not even received 1 request for this opportunity.

Hi Tom,
Just saw this thread today. If you change your mind I might be able to apply. I served in the military in the early 90's and started lampworking last march. Let me know if you decide to go ahead with your generous offer. I am still uncertain when and where AGI takes place but dependant on wife, kids and work I would love to apply if you reopen the scholorship.
Thank You, Jerry

I’m sorry that we had to temporarily rescind the offer for the scholarships, but they have been on the front page of this forum for almost 5 months without a single application. We are dedicated to helping others expand their horizons, and this is just a temporary setback to ensure that we don’t go broke with the new opportunity we are facing. Please be diligent in the future and don’t let the next offer slip away.
