Because I pretty much have, with regards to glass.
Anything new in color?
Techniques?
Does it still take forever to get a torch from GTT?
Any companies gone away, any good new ones?
Distributors?
Last time I had time to pay attention, everybody was sandblasting and some were starting to get sick of it.
Please fill me in, I want to get my mind back into it so that when I get my CPA license and can afford the time and $ to set up again, I'll be ready.
Gosh, I've missed this board.

Boro from a crucible
Folks seem to like cold working these days (laps, saws, grinders, oh my!)
Yep, had you ordered the torch when you went to the island, it would be ready 2 weeks from now.
Acme glass has passed
Still liking Generations, though I'm ordering from a couple others too
Nomad is as cool as ever, he even got his own badge.
Winship and Glasscraft merged which seems to be for the better, they just got a new website up that is pretty bad ass.
hand pulled color tubing.
more sparkle colors.
from what i've read on here, if you use a gtt, you are a monkey gripper.
i am a proud monkey gripper.

there are always new tools, those glass joint holders ARE GREAT, the jaws were another cool one. hmm few years ago people were blown away by wig wag reversials, now not so much. I still enjoy line werk tho, something about the process, of building it like a puzzle. Color work is/has been making a comeback (coilpot, and them blo out deals u guys b doin... IO flares is becoming extinct to many US glassworkers, but there is still a large demand, for me at least. some things ive noticed.

glass on glass joints are as popular as ever, getting more and more common on hand pieces. Inline bubblers are getting more common. Inside out is now a product of China, so many stores have its its become almost a waste of time for non-asian blowers.

Take a bath!
Color tubing from our favorite US color companies is about the hottest thing going. NS is supplying several colors in tubing, and GA will make you custom color lined tubing, also they carry several color schemes to choose from as well to choose from as well. Chayes here has some of the best colored line tubing around.

OK, my deep male intuition tells me that "monkey gripper" has something to do with a jerkoff...yes or no?
Even Google didn't help me with that one.
I need a bigger torch and have been wanting a GTT, I've got a Redmax/premix now, would probably get a torch much sooner if I weren't hoping for a GTT...

i always thought "monkey grip" referred to the way a lot of new torchworkers grip a tube while pulling points.....both palms down.
most of the old schoolers seem to use one palm up, one palm down.
i wish i'd learned the "old" way, as it's hard to re-learn something once it's drilled into my thick noggin.

It seems more and more people are running homefills and High volume low pressure systems to generate their own oxygen by either using a large holding tank at low pressure or filling their own k tanks with the homefill systems. Ummm GTT has compressed air options for their torches... gongs mini tubes, more gongs and more mini tubes... massive 710 culture takeover... s'all i got atm.
