Does anyone know what type of 'decals' people are using to label their work. the ones that look like stickers. I assume they're heat treated or something but idk where to get them... any leads would help.

Also, can anyone compare using vinyl vs raysist for blasting???

^^??

i thought that winship used to carry decals as well as customs available, i think abr has them too, but i believe there are many more suppliers online. they are basically high fire (1200F) wet transfer ceramic decals.

as far as rayzist compared to blasting, blasting is cheaper and easier, rayzist offers more detail but takes more time and equipment. you need the film, transfers, and a uv bed to expose the material. then blast, but the detail offered is unparalleled. cool pixelated versions of photographs and such.

you can buy a plotter to cut vinyl, or go to a sign shop and have them duplicate the shit out of the designs, if you hate sandblasting, and don't mind running a second kiln cycle to fire on decals, then the decals are the way to go.

i am still working on my logo for the decal end of it so i just go with the vinyl blasting. i get them plotted and weeded (having the positive part of the image removed from the vinyl design so you don't have to) at a sign shop for something like 15 cents to 60 cents, depending on the size and the border. having a larger border added helps so you don't have to tape around the graphic to avoid overblasting = time saver.

how many do you usually have to order at the sign shop? i think that is the way i am gonna approach it to begin with.
could you post a pic of the stencil and the final product look on your piece. i would really appreciate it.
i just got my blaster a while back but havent used it with any stencils yet.

thanks,

$28 for a 24"x26", and they fit as many logos as they can, depending on extra border and what not. comes weeded (positive image removed), with a sheet of transfer tape over it. here's a production inline with the logo.
