View Full Version : Corning pyrex from mountain glass
Anyone used it? does it work alright>? I need some tubing for some inside out frit production. But Ive read post on the board here before where people compare the pyrex tubing to be only of slightly higher quality than chinese clear. wanted to know if anyone had tried this batch of stuff they are selling. i usually used the kimble from mountain glass but they switched to corning now it seems. Anyways i just dont want to order a bunch of tube if its not of decent quality.
-thanks

is/o frit strikes differently under different kind of clear; simax, corning, kimble, whoever. they are all going to react differently.
is corning glass "of decent quality"? i sure think so.
NS Amber purple is what started all this. A handful of years ago Corning changed their formula to some minor degree and then the AP came out brown. At the same exact time companies like Eigenshaft and Schot were coming on the scene and people started looking around.
There should be lots of info on here about this problem. it was a big to do.

I used to use Corning Pyrex for stemware. But for some reason, I can't get it to fume right and got a couple of cases of 38 heavy that where out of round.
I now use Schott B.A.
Well i went ahead and bought some. its got some seeds and chords running through it. AWESOME!..........not

I'd take it back for sure. I'm sure MGA would rather keep you as a customer. That's pretty bullshit
