Bead makers don't get much sun over here at the Melting Pot, so I though I'd post a few pics.
If you are in the mood for shopping . . . . check my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/harold.cooney?ref=name#!/harold.cooney) for info on how to do that. Money is good.
This here is a five holed doughnut bead . . . .

Great beads though. I really like the cold worked ones. Also, the autumn colored ones are excellent.

nice work as always, Harold, but you got me suckered, so I'll ask ... how does that donut have 5 holes (keeping in mind that looking at a hole from the other side doesn't make it a different hole ... well ... on a bead I mean)?
Bo Diddles
10-02-2010, 04:24 AM
^ I only see three holes as well...
May I ask what you used to cut the facets in the reddish beads? They're perfect.
Its hollow so 1 hole on each side on the outer, 1 hole each side on the inner, and the doughnut hole. I think...

I'll be the only dildo in this thread.

i'n not sure if you are asking about the doughnut or not, but it's raked stringer.

It's hollow and strings through the walls of the form, so there are four holes, and the big one in the middle.
Its hollow so 1 hole on each side on the outer, 1 hole each side on the inner, and the doughnut hole. I think...
yes, sir. (i'll call you sir cause i'm not calling you scumbag.)

4" 'V' wheel. same as everybody . . .

There is a 'Shop Now' tab on my wall page. Let me see if I can improve things a little. Thanks for letting me know that the navigation sucks.
Thank you for the comments.

4" 'V' wheel. same as everybody . . .
My apologies, I don't know much about cold working... which should have been obvious from my question. Your response sounds a little rude to me, about the same as saying "4" 'V' wheel, stupid!" Anyhoo, I'll chalk that up to the fact that it's difficult communicating by written word...
Is a "V" wheel something that goes onto a bench top grinder or something? A quick google produced some Dremel attachments they call "V" wheels... I'm guessing they're similar to the one you use just smaller? Are the grooves cut 'freehand' or is there some tool that allows you to produce consistent groove placement and depth?
Again, please excuse my ignorance. I am just hoping to learn more about cold working.

Okay I think I found what a "V" wheel is.... may I ask what grit(s) you use?

you'll be okay.
I was saying that nothing crazy was used, other than just normal glass shop coldworking equipment.
www.covington-engineering.com and www.hisglassworks.com are great sources of equipment for this kind of work.
yes, like a bench grinder.
you can do work like this with a dremel but . . .
you will want something like this:

with something like this:

:shifty: yeah, that whole book thing is never gonna work.

I think there are a fair number of boro lampworkers in the SLC area, it would be nice to see somebody else's head for a bit. . .
do you know JC? 104 lampworker, maker of rainbows and enamel stringers and such?
I don't think I have met JC. I know a couple of 104 lampworkers from the utah glass art guild, and yea there are quit a few pipers up here. My shop is huge and I have liquid so feel free to hit me up.
