Hey man, these are great, I'd love to hear more about the oxides/salts you used to color these.

i concur.

i asked in the color forum a while back about the use of oxides. lately i have been looking into copper salts to create stains. any and all info greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Have a try with copper oxyde(CuO,dark black powder).Mix it w.water and paint it thinn onto the outside of the tube. You should be able to look through after you dried it on the tube.
Now burn it in with a strong oxydiesing flame.Wait a feww seconds. Now heat the glass with a more reducing flame but hot enough to melt the glass. Now blow it up.The copper oxyde should have turned to a light green. The longer you turn it in a very soft reducing flame, the more it will turn to red.
Well, this sounds easy but needs experience.

Different results you get with silver salt(silver natrium,AgNa).Looks like normal salt.Put some in water and then go on.try differnt concentrations and flames.

Have fun,
Glassmax Axel
