So I just got a lap wheel and have been playing around. I have found it: very fun, kind of a learning curve, and kinda expensive. I learned the hard way to be very careful with especially the first grinding steps.. as one wrong grind not on level can wreck a whole piece. Also .. watching a piece slip out of your hands and grind marks on a finished surface of a piece as it spins on the wheel is not cool.

But, a lot of fun. The pendants look very cool in person, hard to get it from a picture. I would recommend getting a lap wheel if you have the funds and are interested in it... the time investment on each piece is not too bad for the coldworking part. The $71 diamond wheels kinda suck.

Wait a sec... I just looked again at the pendant with the flowers in it... could we get a closeup? I'm not sure what I'm looking at, but it's awesome.
Are they millefiori?

The Ameritool 8" wheel is nice and inexpensive.

Cool! I've been really interested in getting into coldworking. Need to get my home studio up and running first. The missus hates me gone so often.

i did research .. went with the 8" grinder from HIS glassworks - on phone, don't have a link now. it's made by ameritool - but cheaper i think and has magnetic disks which make changing grits nice. i am happy with it - a little tweaking necessary on the water system, but working well
