I could understand if this get's moved, deleted, etc... But I figured this is the most viewed section of the forum and my best shot at finding someone in the area.

I made a little heart with some writing on it and a little horn off of the back to prop it up as a modest Wedding gift for my sister. I just flew in from Pheonix earlier tonight. I was admiring it while I was laying down and it must have hooked onto my pants, then fell to the ground when I was taking a piss :wes::bangHead::tantrum::depressed

It isn't an amazing piece of art, but being such a beginner at the torch I was proud of it and thought my sister would enjoy it.

That's it right there.... I've learned my lesson, that nothing is more important than a strong weld (it wasn't a completely clean break, I blame my stupidity way over my weld)

So yeah, I'll do whatever I gotta do to get it welded back on by Saturday. Anybody???:twitch:

(This is why I'm the n00b on Fire):o:

If you can not find someone with a kiln and a torch, you might just try some glue. I have done some projects using different types of glue that you can get at a hardware store, or a stained glass studio.

One type is UV glue that sets with either a special blacklight or sunlight depending on the type. This kind of glue tends to dry clear and it takes very little to make your repair so you might not even see it. I think that you can get a loctite brand of UV glue at Home Depot or Lowes.

There are some other types of glue that work well on glass, but I do not think I have used one that hides as well where it can be seen.

Good luck!

JB weld will dry clear with out a light. That is if you don't find a torch or some buddy with one. llithra good idea on a clear glue if all else fails.

Noob on Fire, nice heart. Very cool gift for your sister.

Peace

WhatwhatWHAT? What JB weld are you using? The two part mixture I use dries opaque gray like a stone.

Now that you said that, I had to go look. The epoxy 2 part that I use is from Harbor Freight. The tubes are the same colors as Jb and are clear parts and dry clear. I said JB weld thinking they are the same. They must be an one off because I just made 5 Marvers and used this and it all dries clear.
So If you use an epoxy check to see what color it dries at. Icarus I'm glad you said something because I certainly don't want to add to your worries. If I did I apologize.

Peace

Windshield Mirror glue Dries clear, will last a very long time (if not forever). Just a dab will do ya.

Thanks for all of the tips you guys. I knew that was way too much of a long shot. Even though I very very rarely am on the torch, there's almost always a idling kiln and station available daily to me... So when I got to my destination, broke the favorite piece of glass I had made, it was hard to accept that I would have to glue it back together instead of fixing it. I'm all about all-glass, so the thought of gluing it was just breaking my balls.

Either way, she'll love the gift, and I can always give it another attempt later on... or get the glue off and actually repair it.

Will super glue not last? These are my suggestions so far...

-UV glue (Sounds like the best option)
-Windshield Mirror glue (Is this super hard to find? Because it sounds ideal)
-epoxy 2 part (Not JB Weld? lol)

Gotta go out and get a hair cut, I'll check out any responses on my phone but I'll go out to Lowes to pick that up the UV stuff today otherwise.

Thanks agian GLDG.

loctite makes a 5 min epoxy that works like a charm and dries clear. it's in a double syringe with an orange label, and smells awful when you mix it (must mean it's working). i mixed gold leaf into it once and painted the mixture all over some boro and perfectly matched a venetian chandelier part. you couldn't tell the difference between the two.

Clear epoxy FTW. Very last minute (did it in tux), just posting up from the phone before I head out to the church.

Stay up GLDG, thanks for the help.
