I have a aim 99LS analog kiln and was working one night and went to throw a peice in there and it was down to 700 degree's, and its like it has no power I was wondering if anyone knows what's wrong with it or any thing I can do to fix it? Any help would really help me out! Thanks and keep stacking those kilns!!
Could be a bad coil? Are you comfortable working on electronics? Do you have a continuity tester? Could be a fried infinite switch. Check the coils for continuity WITH THE KILN UNPLUGGED!!! While you have the control box open visually inspect the back of the switch, when they burn out it is usually pretty easy to see.

Yea I'm comfortable working on it! Plus my best friend is an electician and he has a tester! I pulled the back off and what to look for? The coils don't look to bad and all there is in the back is a little black peice with 4 wires screwed to it! Is that the infinty switch?
The switch is the dial that you use to turn it up and down. I was thinking of a 96j when I said you would be able to see the coil ends and back of the switch at the same time...
I know this is not the model you have, but I do not have a pic of yours....

Had the same prob with my old kiln years back. I found that the factory crimp on ring terminals connect to the switch were not rated for the app. You my try simply replacing the wires and use proper ring terminals before buying a new switch. Good Luck!
^^good call!! Take a pic of what is burned up and let us see it...

Do you know of any supply stores or anything that sells them? I know where not in the same location but was wondering if like a local hardware store would carry them or do I need to hit up glasscraft or a kiln store?
Johnstone supply is where I buy mine.
Appliance repair shops should have infinite switches.
Appliance repair shops should have infinite switches.
Johnstone carries the exact ones used by AIM...
