nice cardinal jes! happy new year!

this one is a large woodpecker it is the biggest hollow one I have made yet.
I practiced making the smaller birds out of 12ml rod then made the hollow 44ml or 38ML black tube. I used the best cardinal out of the three on the branch and have 3 more solid woodpeckers but think they will look better even on a small branch.
If you look I put some brown glitter then shape in a hole on the top of the branch, it was also easier then making the rest of the tree like I did last year, but this way I can make more quicker and make a good price and have more time and energy to try bigger more difficult ones.
I hope soon to make the hollow meme (ojibwe word for woodpecker) on a hollow tree with his lunch... I am getting a new big kiln so more things will be possible but I will work hard and not talk about it, dont mean to be so wordy...
OH yeah, their is its lunch too, catapillers and a blueberry for desert and an egg too, kinda like the circle of life and the seasons as well. spring is new life then summer with lots of continuation of life then fall things rippen fall of get eaten and winter is here also death not everything can exist here in the winter the bird is here all the then still eating and finding food and again n spring having its eggs and raising the young through the seasons and hopefully making it old...
bedtime wintertime story time and cultural lessons from a place on earth with 4 seasons.
please look thanks for looking, wonder what you'll think?
Hey seth, gotta get you nice presents soon, I missed X-mass under the tree present time:turtle:... I have used that tungston and am learning more about using them, look forward to seeing what new creations you have made?
thanks KOI glass, I am happy you would say so...
happy new year to all!
OHH, I wanted to put something with an eye on it because I been trying different eyes and when criss arnold(Aussi) said post one I had to out of respect, I will try better though & wanted to at least show progress trying learning eye techniques,
ALSO, I was very impressed that putting them on whine stoppers would be a good idea, but I tried it once when I had some prepped and someone always gets one, so now they are a main stay, haha who-da thought?

cool man, I think I see Robin's jar she got from ya at the show:) I still swear that thing has magical anti-dehydration properties (not to mention the thing's bullet-proof). Love them birds, specially the cardinals.

Jes, awesome work, love the detail, especially the wood Becker! Very koool!:chilling:
Salt shakers are the easiest thing in the world,
just allow enough room, blow the hole or tugnston pick it, push like a bowl, I LIKE MICKELSONS EGG tool, then push further with a skinnier reamer or octagonal reamer so it goes way up in their, not up to the top though... and whalaaah, finished
Thanks everybody...
Jake great to hear about the magic properties and I will try a larger hollow cardinal lifesize like the MEME sometime very soon :-)

Ha, I saw that Mickelsen Egg tool the other day. That thing is pretty burly! Robbin sure knows how to lay an egg (I'm pretty sure that's the title or a Dr. Seuss book).
Nice setup at that show, Jes! Looks good! I like the birds and the funky cane spiral.
Thanks everybody
and Thanks Julian,
That show was Awesome seeing all those things around this part of the hemisphere and watching the flame off, I really wanna go back next time it happens.
It was fun having you go to the glassblow'n New Years Eve party, we are also planning a thingy (we all ake something and put it together and then raffle it) but its yet to be determined at the earthday event at leaf erickson park in spring...
I wanna get the larger egg tool he makes too, for jars its too easy just stick it in and its round and nice for a cork no more flaring and evening the wall its like magic, or something...

Two things.
One, you sir, are a hippie. Prostyle.
Two, this is by far the best selection of work I have seen from you. Very impressive. It takes a lot of time and effort to develop a selection of items all of which show technical investment and experience. Years. Good job.
Be happy to see what comes next.

Love it all, but Im sure You new I would! Those Cardinals rock! would love to learn how to make these from you someday, that is Illinois state Bird :) Keep it up Homie :turtle:
dang, thanks, didnt expect to hear so many nice things,
the wine stopperers I use a 2 ton epoxy that is clear 2 part mix, if anyone has better idea I really want to know?
cardinals are fairly easy for a exact species bird I know you can do it just start out by trying their is only 4 colors I used a cadmium red coiled and incased in clear then bright transparent red for the wings and top feathers black for the eyes center of the beak and feet and a deep creamy carmel color for the beak and claws.
and BAM its a cardinal the woodpecker too is very few colors so it was helpful in the thought process when i was putting them together.
