so it was mentioned in a thread about american glass factories closing, that china was working on grey glass. i haven't heard anything other than that about it.
i glimpsed this some weeks back, and am wondering if anyone is stocking it yet ?

does it have a green base like the black tubing ?
if this has been around for a while then my bad on the thread. i am not one to be psyched on china tubing, but this stuff looks sweet.

I use it.
Kinda limited in application so far. But I'm happy with it.
One thing I have learned though is that to get the 'gray' look, for it to look like that tube does, one needs a lot of it, coverage, lots of real estate.
That tube is big and so (better than anything else I have seen) it looks good.
When used with less mass or less real estate, as a lens for a pendant or as an over white core in chino for example, it doesn't really work as well.
It doesn't carry the same punch.

i wish i could recall the thread. i believe it was something about toledo and glass. maybe a project that was being given to the chinese to utilize their large float glass factories on a large scale architectural project...
thats how i vaguely remember it anyhow.
anyone know how long this smoky black tubing has been available ? i've given myself the impression it hasn't been around that long. i don't see any gray works coming down the production line. more input appreciated.

well i feel like a doofus for not knowing.
how does this stuff work. strangely stiff like the black, hard to gather as the glass doesn't seem to want to ? does it have reduction problems like the black, devit ?
cracking issues ?

It's not as troublesome as the black can be, but it still presents some issues. Doesn't like to be worked super hot, it can reduce like the black. But if you just take it easy with it, it is a really nice color. That tube looks pretty slick.
I have had some china smokey black transparent tubing since august, works just fine, i dont use it much though.
