I need to countersink a stainless 6-32 machine screw into a 1/8th inch thick plate of brass.

There are so many types of counter sinks counter bores out there that I really do not know what to use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

I would just use a slightly oversized end mill. I assume by machine screw it has a flat head with a recessed drive (phillips flat star torque allen etc) not sure if that answers the question. Does this go into a threaded hole? Why not just drill and tap for the screw then use a drill the same size as the head on The fastener. I can't see the slight convex shape of the drill cut being a problem. I have no idea if that helps lol. Post a pic.

yea, i think if i understand right you can just use 2 drillbits to do it. just drill your first hole for the threads of the screw, and the second a bit larger for the head to countersink into, but just deep enough for the head to go into

I believe most UTS screws have a 82 degree angle on the head. So drill, tap, then use a 82 degree countersink to chamfer the hole

Thanks guys.
The machine screw I am using has an 82 degree head so I am ordering the appropriate 3 flute high speed countersink from McMaster Carr. Just didn't understand the whole degree of the screwhead issue. Learn something new every day and that makes me a happy man.
Peace out and thanks again
