Hello,
Jimmi Palmer here.So I'm new to this forum and suppling metals to glass blowers. I was just wondering if there were any other metals you use to fume with besides gold, silver and copper.
So if there are any others what are they?
Thank you all in advance.
Peace,
Jimmi Palmer

Jimmi, thanks for the intrest in our craft and trying to make the supplies we need more accesable to us. Gold and silver are the staples for fuming. Copper can be done but the fumes are pretty nasty for your health and the outcome is similar to gold just not quite as nice. As far as other metals as far as I know there have been no other metals precious or otherwise that fume well for lampworkers.

Tungsten lets off a really nice red (think copper strike in color) but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it, only happened once or twice by accident.

Tungsten always puts out a really nasty dull grey fume for me. Luckily it has always burnt off with a high oxy flame.
