Couldn't find my old progression thread so I figured I'd start a new one. Let me catch you all up. Been lampworking around 10 months. I'm using a GTT Cheetah. I love glass.
Heres a bub I made last night that I'm pretty proud of, not the cleanest work in the world but I learned alot making this piece and it really opened my eyes to a few things.

Opened up a fresh bundle of what was supposed to be Green Exotic odds. Guess they accidently sent me Exp Green 5 odds by mistake. I won't complain though :) All but one of the mibs is exp green. the other mib is silverstrike 3.
I know the weld could be a little better, but I'm trying not to beat myself up too much about it for now. There is a spot on the top of the weld thats a little thicker than the rest. Oh well you live and you learn I guess. Once I get a mirage I'll be able to take advantage of the Lynx centerfire to really cook those welds without heating up the whole area like my cheetah tends to want to.
Let me know what you all think, comments, criticisms, tips, death threats all welcome. Thanks for looking.

dude, you rocked the shit out of that exp green for not even trying to use that color! what did you do to get it so milky and streaky? is that over white? like what flames were you using, and how did you apply the color? i really like that man! as long as the weld is strong on 2 piece stuff, your good

thanks guys i appreciate it!
frillcappa, I worked it like I usually work exp green (it didn't take long to figure out it wasn't green exotic) I used a forcefull flame on the neutral/oxydizing border untill it was under clear, then neutral all the way. My torch is a little too small to have worked it totally under an oxydizing flame once it was under clear which I think would have ended up with less white. I'm still trying to figure out this color though so don't take any of that info to the bank.
This piece looks more like when I use seconds instead of firsts. The seconds tend to stay more blue with tons of white, for me atleast. Either its seconds, or struck more than usual from repeated warm ups and cool downs while I worked on the piece which could have kept on striking the color.
For what its worth it was a very dark rod before I used it in the flame, not one of the lighter ones where you can easily tell its cobalt based.
All the color on the actual pipe is from a couple blow ins.

Made these up last night. Thinking of making more of them and adding them to the prodo mix.
Persimmons strike (probably could have struck it a little more to pull more purple out of it)

Jamboree (I've got to learn to take better pics, it doesn't look this reduced in person.)

Nice work; I may have to borrow your idea and do a few pieces with handles.

Thanks everyone!
wrench75, thanks. I was thinking I had to do something to make the cane flow with the piece better. Twisting the mouthpiece seemed like the best idea. I think it kinda makes the whole piece flow, otherwise theres too much going on the bowl end.

forgot i had this thread going.
haven't taken many pictures for a while. been too busy, shit doesn't sit around long enough to set up and try and get good shots of. finally decided I need to learn how to fume beyond the just hitting it with silver and getting that ugly yellow-blue-green-white mess. finally found a great gold fuming flame too.

know that i have an idea of whats going on, i'm going to try and have a little more control over what colors i pull out of these. selective encasement and whatnot.
thanks for viewing.

I'm sure this isn't that cool, but I'm happy with it. I enjoy forgetting about this thread, then stumbeling upon it and seeing all the shit I thought was good when I posted. Perhaps I'll hate this like the rest of the work I posted the next time I'm here. For now though I'm enjoying it.
Just over 10 inchs long, chuggs like a fucking champ. The orangeish bubbles look green in real life. I'm still having trouble taking pictures of fume that look like they do in real life. So yeah its alternating purple and green bubbles. Had to make a little stand for the back end, otherwise I'd have to flatten some bubbles which I think would take from the piece. The biggest bubble has a tiny flat spot which with the stand makes it sit quite stable.

I tried a new way of going about figuring out what to make. I wrote some random glass terms on a piece of paper, then picked a few without really thinking about them and decided they will be the piece I make. For example this one was from the words: Fume, Clear Tube, Bubble, Stemless. It was a fun way to go about deciding what to make because I had too many ideas in my head and a hard time picking just one.
as always feel free to nit pick my work. I'm always looking for things to improve.
sorry it has water in it, kinda takes from the pic but I had to see how this baby chugged. did i mention it fucking chuggs like a champ!
