Ok, well I finally got to atleast light a torch today!..All day been chasing down the whatnots...ant way still two fittings shy of getting two concentrator s up!...guess that will wait till tomorrow.. I could only run one 5lpm oxy-con to lynx but atleast I was able to see torch and use Alittle..keep in mind I have never ever done anything on a glass torch...this is the first!...I wasn't trying to make anything was really just practicing attaching cold seals but somehow ended up with this jankyass pendant...lol.. but my three gets old Kaci loves it and was trying to make necklace..Man she's a trip!....so here is my first whatever it is !..http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k593/CLARKBUTLER/IMAG0968.jpg:chilling:

already? i dont think it was too serious. i sure had many dozens of burns, per day even somedays, for the first few weeks. not torch burns, just hot glass. one of the things i say when people ask me hows it going, i say, well i dont get burnt anymore hardly ever, so thats nice!

I had issues with hot glass pendants popping off a punty at first.....good thing I was always good at dodgeball and moving fast cause those suckers were popping off like hot bullets across the room. lol I think my fuzzy slippers do help me move quite quickly :P I did touch some hot glass the other day...it wasnt melting hot but it was a wake up call to be more careful and to slooow it down a little in the shop. Patience is key. ADHD doesnt help! :bouncy:

Ok, it has been a crazy ass couple weeks..I finally got a chance to melt Alittle over the last couple days, acouple hours yesterday and put in a 6 hour session today...I suck!...but I had a lot of fun and after breaking a lot of glass a week ago, I was able to break less today. And with the crack healing flame I saved this spoon about 4 different times unfortunately I still messed the bowl up. And the push went perfect the first time, but my hole close when I pushed it. I should have gone with first thought which was grab the dremil and diamond bit and then quick flame polish. But instead thought I could get by shooting in a pointer and punching hole....bad move that led to a quick series of fuckups.

Anyway I was Kool with the shaping till that happened, and fucked up my bowl !. Anyway here are my jankyass pieces!.

Got home this afternoon and was D-T-ing for some torch time so I crank it up for acouple hours, I made a pretty Kool clear spoon and a friend and his wife came by and she wanted it but wanted her favorite color yellow on it, I told her I had already worked it and wasn't sure what Whould happen if I put color on it, but they wanted me to try. I should have taken pix when it was just clear I liked the shape better it wonked out when I tried to rework the color in clear after already shaped I knew it would!.. But Fuck it she love's it, and I tried to just give it to them but he insisted on giving me a 20 spot, he was being way to kind, but has been a good friend since 10th grade..anyway to Me it was kooler when it was just clear with just the little front milli at term, but Fuck it, hell they even test drove that beast with us and I was pleasantly surprised!..http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k593/CLARKBUTLER/IMAG1095.jpg

Nice that you are already making functional pieces. My first pipe looked a lot like yours, except much more wonky. :)

What your doing right:
- Shaping the hollow form so it smokes
- Adding dots and marble-ishes for style
- Shaping the neck so the bowl looks normal

What your needing work on that would help right away:
- Melt those yellow dots in more. From the picture in post #41, the dot under the left milli/marble is melted in correctly, same with the other 3 under the bowl. The dots on the bowl top are not melted in right, which you can see instantly because they look like balls rather than smoothly melted in chocolate chips. If the pipe hits the ground on those dots now, the dots are gone and will probably crack the bowl. If they are melted in more, you'll get a lot less cracks in general, and a lot less fracturing if it falls to the floor. I drop all of the pipes I smoke from often, its just part of the game. :)
- The same general thinking goes for the yellow/clear/milli marb on the side and then the front clear one on the face, neither are really melted in too well. They both are "off the glass" at the base........... All you gotta do is just gently melt them in and out of the glass a few times.......
- The bowl itself where you put the "tobacco" is very shallow and pointy. Head it up a little more and let GRAVITY and your tool make the push, dont just jab it and see where it goes...... Give it a little puff through your blowhose as you are pushing down too to maintain the shape of a bowl.
- Lastly, on the hole you pop to make the bowl, dont do it in the "middle" of the bowl, do it on the "lower 2/3" of the bowl towards the mouthpiece. That will allow the neck of the bowl to be pushed down more and it'll be easier for your customers to smoke from and see it while lighting, right now there's a big mound before the bowl and the neck.

When your here I'll teach you the honeycomb blowout style, they are probably the prettiest way to go and extremely simple too, takes about a half hour or so on a Mirage. Seeya whatever day you like................

nice bro just make sure if your putting piece together that you work that weld in all the way till the walls are smooth and thick. you can do it with a bridge to the horn and the blowtube. i would say if you want to get how a weld works and some quick practice just take a couple of points of 16--25mm tube and make sure they are the same sise and then try and weld one to the other and make them look like one piece. this will really help you get how the glass moves and how to work a weld in without wasting pieces and frustrating you. keep at it bro. i see you have become a slave to the flame as the rest of us

@ TiKQ...Man..it ended being a 2 piece it started as one piece (broken remnants in background) but the head was still good and since I was screwing around anyway I thought is try welding on another pc. So I grabbed a pc of yank tube out and fumed it real quick and stuck together worked the weld in kinda...my tech's need much practice!...all of it needs mo, mo practice!..Thx

Fuck been off torch for a few dayz, like last Friday,(a wedding & Kaci's 3rd filled weekend) and was jonesing for some torch time. Even if I was only going to be pulling some jank, I still wanted some time behind the heat...Anyway, finally late this afternoon I was able to put In acouple hours..here some old tube and pieces of color that I have no idea what it is!.. And my fume gold spit off and embedded in tube I had know idea for awhile and was trying to melt it in thinking it was Alittle piece of stray clear glass, it wasn't . Whould not come off, I overheated tryin to get off and ended up putting some color over it ...lol..I used Alittle of that purple looking frit by pipe in pix in the can with fume o/s only this time and not a lot , it's not that pretty. Got to start figuring out colors..my fume went on ok, but was Alittle screwey too with the spitting shit. . Then, why I was still fart knocking around, thought would try melting in a clear stringer on blank..mistake....but was able to get most melted in..the clear dots on head melted in nice but you can't see effect to well in pic..anyway here it is Alittle wonky but it was felt great doing it...On my way up to see Ben, of Wake Glass tomorrow, and Iam totally stoked to actually spend time with another Glassapipe Artist!....Hoping to hang with El Hefe soon too!..So fucking stoked!...http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k593/CLARKBUTLER/IMAG1138.jpg

kinda sucks you deleted all the pics that were on here... how are we supposed to see your progression??? my thread has everything from start to finish, as does crips... sucks to read something and not see the pics... how are other newbs supposed to benefit from your mistakes??? them seeing your fucked pcs, and having us tell you how to fix your problems helps them from making the same mistakes... deleting pics cause they weren't "Headdi" enough is kinda poor form, dude. I hate ALMOST EVERY pic on my thread, lol... and it might make me seem uneducated (because I WAS when it started) but the progression is there... post some pics and keep them up.

Dude, I have no idea what the Fuck happened to my pix but the same thing happened on my low pressure oxy thread all of my earlier pix are gone!...I didn't delete those turds, hell I didn't know they were gone till now, but yesterday on my oxy thread someone was asking what happened to my pix on low pressure oxy system.

I have know idea what happened there either. Is there someone who can bring them bac. All I see is the little blue box where there should be pix,maybe someone can make them pop bac up, or explain how too!..sorry not my doing and Iam not sure I still have those pix on my phone or photo bucket..TikQ may know how..
