I was sent here by a friend online. I have always had an interest in arts, like drawing and painting and like to try out different mediums. I have never blown glass but I have been watching many youtube videos and reading a few books. I just purchased a Nortel Redmax Premix Torch today, along with a lot of glass and tools etc. For my day job, I'm an internet affiliate marketer and a webmaster. Other than that, these forums kick ass and I've learned a lot just lurking here. I am going to be getting classes very soon, so I'll see you guys around here!

Great.
Welcome to the Melting Pot.
Lampworking is a great way to survive a real job. Less sadistic than hunting, less work than working out and none of the gay shoes needed for mall walking.
I hope you enjoy working with glass. It's a really, really good time. It will be worth the cash investment and, cause you are from the marketing world, you will just love glass for its honesty. quality, progression; it just can't be bullshitted.
So post pics when you can. Lurking and computer job makes it out like you know the search function, and this will help. Ask all the questions you want, answer any that you can. Hope you find this place helpful to your quest.
I was going to make a Canadian joke but I lost heart. I'm tired.

Welcome brother, I'm in Stratford not too far from you.
Welcome to the Melting Pot.. and the rest of your life.. Mwa haha haha....
Seriously though, with a little creativity and alot of practice Lampworking is by far one of the most satisfying and addictive 'hobbies' that you could have stumbled upon.
It's also nice to see more Ontario residents melting glass!!
Holla!!

Hey Cal or toggle, either of you have an update on Toronto Art Glass? Are they closed for good?
Sadly I doubt Toronto Art Glass will ever be up and running again. I started blowing glass there actually.
