Hey i recently got a few lessons from a friend of a friend and iI was amazed how much I learned in just 2 sessions of getting knowledge from someone who knows what they are talking about. I have been doing chillums a lot cause I cant seem to get my spoons evenly thick all the way threw and when i blow the bowl out its all uneven and ugle. But thats my next mission and goal for myself. So heres a few pics

I wanna learn more ISO techniques but Im having fun getting the simple fuming and stringer work down.
Tell me what ya think ,Thanks.:D

My mouth pieces are still in need of a little work but are getting better and the hammer was just something I wanted to give a shot. The weld is not good at all but it was my first attempt so im happy with it. lol

Ive been using 38mm Heavy wall. I wanna try to start using bigger tubing. But im broke right now and have only a small piece of tubing left right now.I wann atry to sell some to some shops but i dont really know the way that works. Like prices i should try to sell them for and if I should go in there with a lot or only like 20 .
Im trying to work on speed now too. i can make one in about 14 minutes from prep to finish.maybe a little longer if i have to pull my stringers too.
Any tips on how I should go about selling tem would really help me too . Thanks guys

those look nice brother, keep up the good work.

If your gonna sell to shops try not to sell yourself short, market yourself as an american artist or something that can set your work apart from the import stuff. If a shop has all import glass I wouldn't even bother with them.

shops near me want to pay 10 and under for chillums usually.

For pricing I usually start by checking out the market. See what stuff similar to what your making sells for in the shop you're hitting. Wholesale is USUALLY 50% of retail. I'd say those chillys would sell for $20 in most shops. Maybe $15 if your market is kinda flooded. I'd go in and ask for 10 a pop and see how it goes. It's nice to bring as much as you can with you. I usually have a case prepared with some of everything I make in it and then extras in more cases in the car.

Most shop owners prefer it if you call ahead and schedule an appointment. It's usually hard to just swing by and hope the owner is in and has money to spend. This can work of course, it's just a bit more difficult. Clean up as best as you can. Go in looking like a respectable business man. One thing I have learned is when you send others to shops with your work the shop owners don't beat you up on your prices as much. I like to sell my own work so I typically go myself.

Are there any colleges in your area? Good venues? These are the spots to make good money. I sell most of my shit either on lot or on college campuses. I keep a layer of pendants on top of my pipes so security/administrators walking by don't see em. Don't be too vocal on a campus. Try to be noticeable but keep a lowish profile. I typically keep moving and do laps passed the busy areas. If you post up you are more likely to get hassled than if you keep moving.

It's also nice to have someone with you. Help holding cases and shit, extra backup in case someone tries to take your shit and you don't look as weird sitting down talking to someone with a case as you do just postin up. I smoked cigs for years because I felt weird just sitting in front of buildings with a case. Smokin a cig or talking to your partner make you look less like a salesman.

That's another thing. I find people are inherently sucpicious of anyone trying to sell them something. You'd be amazed the lengths people go to avoid being sold to. Don't let it get you down if people are rude to you. For every person that totally ignores you there is another that will really appreciate your work. get used to hearing "I don't have any money" It's their favorite way to avoid being sold to. I usually respond with "It doesn't cost anything to look!" Half the time they end up buying shit with the money they claimed not to have.

Either way man good luck. Have fun! It's a blast selling glass whether you make bank or not!

Thanks for the info man. I wanna go to a few of the shops that are near me but I know my boy sells to the shops Id go to. I dont wanna step on his toes or nothing but Im not trying to steal his custies or make a lot of money cause Im gonna be leaving this state in a few months so I just wann amake a little cash and get my name out there. im gonna ask him what he thinks about me selling to the shops. i dont think hell really mind cause by no means am I any where near as good as him yet so . Im gonna give it a shot.
Thanks again guys.

Where are you located? I'd hit some campus' if he's sellin to shops. You don't want to undercut his prices on accident. Shops will beat you up on the details sometimes too. Average Joe is totally blown away by glassblowers and will buy pieces that are a bit wonky and freaking love them

think about it, Sell everything at once to a headshop, or sit around all day on a college campus trying to sling pipe by pipe, dodging security and asshole college students, ill pass. just make sure ur boy wont get mad and sling them to a shop for like 12.50 or 15 bucks

lol I miss NJ and its....... well I dont really know what i miss about it but i do. Thats where I was raised and then I did a lot of traveling and touring and ended up here in shitty Florida. I mean its nice here but I like the change of seasons and i donno I just dont really like Florida. Im a city person i think. City or Mountains. Im from EXIT 131 ! REPRESENT !! lol
One good thing about Jersey is porkroll and the fact that there are so many places to go within driving distance. And a lot of good shows.
@frill Yeah thats what i was worried about. Im gonna ask my boy if he minded if I tried to work some at a few of his shops. I dont think he will mind very much and I def wont try to beat his price. Hes the reason i can actually do what Im doing so I give him props always. I cant wait till i can pass the knowledge to a friend one day . I wanna find some people in the NJ/NJ/PA area to work with when i get back in about july or something like that.;
