Hi folks, I'm here helping out my friend Mary Luz. She was here at AGI 2 years ago and we have been corresponding ever since. I want to vouch for her that she is a great person and is in need of some help moving to the Miami area.
She is not looking for handouts or a place to stay... she is financially self sufficient. She would just need some guidance with finding a rental house, locating galleries and venues, etc.
Below is her post, and please chime in if you can lend a hand. Mary should be on here soon to answer questions. Thanks for listening : )
Tom
I'm Mary Luz Magual, Venezuelan graphic designer.
Create fused glass jewelry art by flame with my own designs.
I'll be living in Miami from August 2011.
I would have opportunities to exhibit and sell my jewelry work in art fairs and galleries.
Also, apply for a job in some art galleries, organizations and international trade fairs and local events. I can provide my services as an assistant or helper.
Looking for someone to guide me and help me please
thanks!
Mary Luz

I'm glad to see that Mary Luz is moving to the US, Venezuela is too dangerous! Brent Graber aka "Mr. Smiley", www.brentgraber.com, might be a good person to contact. He is very helpful and was at AGI a few years ago.

You'll have an impossible time getting tanks or liquid oxygen rented......
I'm Canadian lived in US since November................ Nobody will rent me tanks without a social security number. I have to fill 160's right now and am desperately trying to find a way to get the 180L dewars (5000cuft vs 160cuft on a Mirage :)).
Other than that, the US is nice, the people here are very different but not in a bad way. Speed signs take getting used to from Km to Mi, but traffic is the same. They (we) dont have a Hugo Chavez though, instead they have this guy named Obama................... Some neat fast food choices too.

Welcome to the Forum Magualosa!
Most citizens of other countries can get a ITIN or Individual Tax identification Number. This, for the most part, serves the same purpose as a SSN but for non-citizens and might make it easier for both you and WF Supply with your gas cylinder/dewar issues.
ITIN information (http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/international/article/0,,id=96696,00.html#itin)
Hope this helps, and good luck with finding your way here.

Hi, thanks for your ITIN suggest.
At the first time, I will be in Florida for a 4 or 6 months...
I'm thinking to rent a torch to do my glass work at glass studio and find a part time Job at the gallerie, art fair organization or similar.
