Hi Everyone,
About a month ago I was on ebay looking at stuff, and I came across a guy selling some old school scientific torches. I happened to notice his user name was blackduckmn (I think) so I wrote him to say hi.
Turns out, it was Edward Carberry, the author of the most informative book I've ever read. (yes, it's better in it's own way than contemporary lampworking, with more step by step instructions and more projects). Turns out he owns some property up here in Blackduck... Anyways, he's re-printing his book: GLASSBLOWING: An Introduction to Artistic and Scientific Flameworking 3rd edition, in color. He says it's much better than the previous 2 editions (of which I'm reading the 2nd). I just wanted to give a head's up, because his books are limited edition, and out of print at the moment. (cheapest is $75 used on amazon.com) He publishes them himself, and he's talked me into buying his 3rd edition because it's much better than the 2nd *according to him*
I've also talked him into joining here, which once his membership is approved I'm sure you'll start seeing posts from him. He's a fount of information, and I'm sure he'll be a valued member on here. {nice as hell to boot}
He's also selling his neon fabrication equipment, so if any of you are interested in making signs hit him up.
Anyone else want to vouch for Ed or his books?
