So i was ragin' prodo most of the day today, and then my torch started acting kind of weird. The candles were inconsistent so I shut it down, brushed off the face (which it didn't really even need) and cleaned my ports with the wire that came with the torch.
Tried it again and it still was acting weird so I decided to do some tests with out the gasses lit and come to find out I apparently have water in my propane line.
Now what the hell do I do? I hope I didn't just F up my new torch.
Anyone have a remedy or solution to this? Please tell my torch will be ok!
shit!

So upon further inspection the liquid is sort of oily and yellowish in color. I unhooked my torch and ran compressed air through all the ports until no more liquid came out. I am also leaving my torch unhooked and tipped port side down s any residual leftovers can run out.
This super sucks I was working so I can pay off some bills now I probably have to go out and buy new hoses and get a different propane tank, along with some filters so this never happens again.

If they dont have anything in the line and not connected moisture in air will just get right in there........ Buy some of the threaded caps, they are only a few pennies at the supply store........... I'll buy the kobuki with water damage! :)

there's been a thread about the oily stuff in lines... i can't remember what it was.. i know the problem i saw was because of a bad reg letting way too much flow..
it might be hose breakdown too.. like i said.. i can't remember, search the threads for oil or foam or somethin spittin out of a torch

I bet you could test if it's the reg by attaching an open hose to the reg and running your normal propane pressure. If the liquid comes out, then get a new reg. I've never had this issue tho, just an idea. Good luck!

Thanks Seth, I actually just got done blowing all my hoses out and ran the torch and it seems fine now. My lines are suuuuper ugly ad are damn near 10 years old so it's time for some new ones anyway. If I had some extra money I would hard line everything but shits uber tight around here ATM so new hoses it is.

Could be the polymers leaching out of hose.

OR what could be "dirty propane" meaning the volume of flow is dragging any "crap" that may be in tank through lines ( water vapor in propane or propane odorant (mercaptan)).

Bad propane would be my first suspect.

Mercaptan, its the crap they add to make propane smell. Tank flush or new tank

I think considering my hoses are older than dirt it is indeed the polymers from the hose breaking down. Another reason I don't believe its mercaptan is because this stuff doesn't seem to stink that bad. I would imagine mercaptan would be very pungent and this stuff isn't.
Gonna try some new hoses first thing...
i pissed in your hoses for april fools, sorry i was late as usual

You must have a small wiener to be able to fit in a hose.

Public Service Announcement
Replace your hoses every 2-4 years.
Use only T grade hoses.
Check fittings and manifolds regularly.
Keep all your tanks outside and in a ventilated area.
Chain high pressures.
Invest in fire real extinguishers.
Invest in real smoke and CO2 alarms.
Keep your shop clean and organized.
Once a year fire dill. :chilling: Entire shop attends.

you don't yearly fire drills as long as your shop catches fire at least that often..
i had a bunch of water in my bethlehem one time. had something to do with leaving a little propane flame on my center fire for a hour or so. It was just straight water tho, so probably a totally different situation. never really did understand what the deal was.
