I have a customer who wants multiple air plane propellers about 6" long and need to gather some ideas for it. What I was thinking was an egg shaped marble flattened on the bottom for the center and making flat cane with a twist for the props. I'm almost certain it would work well, got any other ideas? She would like about 300 of them and I would like to know how to make them the quickest while jazzing them up.

You already have a clear idea on how to make them, but how does your customer want them displayed / mounted? You can always go to a hobby shop and buy a cheap propeller as a model.

What about making a mold and just mellting cullet into it? If they are going to be used pitch is very imporatnt, even if they are not they are tricky looking curves that I think would be very tough to make look decent and semetrical. I hope she is paying good if your gonna make 300 of these tricky bastards

Can you tell us more about what the customer wants? Price point? Clear or coloured? All the same or all unique? 18mm flat rod comes to mind, depending on what the customer wants.

I made this glass + seran wrap glider a while ago. the propeller is functional with a rubber band but doesn't spin that well.

The wings however catch air well, and I feel it would make a good glider, but never wanted to smash it.

I want to try another design to fly and destroy

That thing is pretty sweet! The lady abondoned the propeller idea. I made a few but it just doesn't have that "hey it's a propeller" look. We are going with something else.

Thanks!

Damn that's cool...I wonder if paper mache and actual curved wings would keep it flying. I'd bet a can of coke it would glide safely on the grass.
