what are our options on colors/ supplies? this can be a functional piece right? (i.e. pipe)

off the bat i think fall colors... browns, orange, indian red crayon. Anyone got a couple nice leaf mashers? i could sculpt by hand, but would save time and headaches if we have a whole bunch of the same size n shape leaves...

i need to know what you will need for colors after the teams discuss. then i can let the sponsors know. and yes we are making pipes that the funds generated from them will be donated to a schools art program. gota love it!

^i like that lala, was thinking crayons, but could definitely get a lot more shades out of those striking colors... anyone else on this team? come on, lets get some ideas flowing

When you think of fall what comes to mind? Of course the autumn colors and leafs, but to me I also think of Octoberfest, Halloween, and Thanksgiving....personally I would want:
Green exotic
Blue carnival
Yellow crayon
Orange crayon
Red Crayon
Indian red crayon
Brown Crayon
Rasta gold
Borostick White
Black violet

^^^ just a rough idea, I like the colors lala suggested... maybe double amber over white for a good purple??

Budman, I have a hunch that you could make better leafs w/o a masher but I might have one floating around.

For raw materials maybe:
50mm hvy tubing
30mm hvy tubing
22mm hvy tubing
1/2inch hvy tubing
9mm hvy tubing

30mm rod
1 inch rod
1/2 inch rod
10mm rod
8mm rod
6mm rod

^ these are just sizes I like working on the bench, if a lathe is involved might want some 75 - 100mm medium or heavy wall tubing as well...

i knew we had other teammates!. Thanks for the input coyle>
i do agree i could prolly do better leaves by hand, im thinking it could be something to keep any beginner level people on our team busy... and would help consistency...

i like the turkey breast, how about a turkey dinner bong, puff danny would surely by that for his shop...

^I like it, maybe a cornucopia of some sorts too...

I was just thinking that colored tubing would be great to have also, do they make a brown tubing?

What do you all like working with? I have little experience with frits and powders but they are all really fun and are a quick way to color stuff up...

what are your thoughts on the color list? we have to get one together asap, what is a good dark orange? I seem to remember using a color called mango that was on the darker spectrum...and Taupe is a great tan color but it works better encased..
I do like the idea of using lots of striking colors but I'm only familiar with a few like ruby, triple passion, double amber.... I remember the carnival colors looked awesome when used in blow outs too... Thoughts??

also, do you guys agree with the raw material list? Im sure zoar will plenty of clear on hand but mention it if you notice something missing.

I'm very comfy doin any prep, vac-stacks, full color sleeves, or blow ins. I do a lot if reversal work, and multi section pieces, if u wanna do any line tubing, 70 x5 and 44x4 on the inside is way to go. Works way better than using 50 and 25...

Was kidding about the turkey leg, but I like the cornucopia idea... I see a stemless or upline tube style piece, the tip where the basket comes to a point and curls could be mouth. tripod clear base, and a slide at the top of the opening of the basket, concield as a yam or something... just ideas, would love to go into this knowing what were all making... makes the collaborations go Soo much smoother.

^ I agree, sometimes when you wing it things don't come out as good... wish more people would chime in, I don't want anyone feeling that they have no voice in the creation of this piece.

For now we should just focus on the color list, I was just thinking that we could layer up striking purple colors onto the crayons to get some nice fading....just a thought..

Silver strike, I thought that was more like a caramel color instead of a purple, and what do you mean by AP?

I'm having a really hard time thinking of a design that automatically brings to mind 'Fall', anything I think of would have too much on it.

*I forgot one big part of fall: FOOTBALL!!!!

Amberpurple... maybe I'm thinkin of the wrong color? Any silvery color, single Passion maybe? I think it kinda depends in what everyone else is doin, should all 4 be like a set? If so all following the same idea of say mother nature, or iconic person, or thing of each season?

I like the cornucopia idea, just not sure how all the forms would go together best. Thinking marbles and hollow chambers for grapes/apples/pumpkins. Maybe a turkey leg in it too. If we go that route, I like the orange and reds as crayons, NS Poppy is a nice color too, and the AP idea or a good purple combo.

I was also thinking of keeping more directly related to "fall". And have more of a flowing breeze of autumn color leaves. Like a large stemless, (black or ambpurp tubing, both are bullet proof imho,) covered in a flow of attachments... might be simpler to pull together, make look good, and be sellable....

budman8778

Alright for the cornecopia, we would need butterscotch or some sort of brown for the basket,... blowout? Or maybe lined tube spun tight to give it a depth to the color, butterscotch and brown crayon maybe, alternating in a stick stack. Would make huge chunk for a basket fairly easily.?, and for the fruits well that's really a full rainbow pallet? All the cads, red, orange, yellow, purp, blue...

And as I mentioned above, the other style I was thinking, with the whole flow of leaves idea, it would just be black tubing, or jet black to make stacks of solid black. And amber purple, and yellow, red, and orange, to make leafs. Cad coated in Amberpurple,....

Thoughts? Comments? Other ideas?

Wanna help get our supplies list finalized.!

I love the creative energy floating around here! We are definitely going to make a bad ass piece so don't worry about "sellability"

Im not gonna be around the forum for a little while, I'll let them know the colors/supplies that we've all talked about....

I think everyone should make some drawings and then when we all meet up we can compare and make a final design.....I plan on drawing 3 different designs at least so try to bring at least 1!.
