allright no offense man, but you really have to work on your seals.
the butt seal btw the "can" and the "stem" looks like it was slapped together and not even worked at all, with a brace that shouldnt be and issue.
i must say though, the black sculptural thing is the coolest part of the piece, so keep up the sculpture.

Thats pretty abstract. Sort of Dr. Seussy.
What the hell, I'd smoke it.

no offense taken, and thanks for the crit.
i know the main weld looks janky, it's not what you'd call asthetically pleasing, but it IS solid.
i usually manage better, but i didn't get that quite hot enough before i tacked it, and when i melted it together further, i fucked up the shape of the pieces, tried to puff it back up, fucked it up more, puffed it, finally stopped working on it before it got even worse looking. it's smooth in the middle, on the actual weld line, but the pieces are kinda lumpy around the seal, which makes it look like shit.
what can i say? clear sections make weld mistakes stick out bad.
practice makes perfect.....i need more practice ;)
the webbing was my favorite part, and my first attempt at such, for anyone who was thinking about trying something along those lines, i would only say this: make the webbing, THEN attach it to the piece, if possible.......i built that on the piece, and it was kinda a bitch.

yea word up keep practicing, i make and have made tons of clear bubblers and it really helps for perfecting the welds... make sure you brace the two pieces you are welding together and you should be able to get the weld nice and hot section by section... i agree, clear welds can be a bitch, it really forces you to make sure you try and set them up nice so they melt in smooth and easy....

when you go to do your seals; instead of worrying about "puffing it out" let the glass get ungodly hot and it will start to sink beneath the normal profile of the rest of the tube. let it do it. then puff that out back to the normal contour of the piece its alot easier to do that than it is to condense it back down to the size of the rest of the piece if you blow it out all thin and big
I really like how nice and round the foot is tho
