So, I have been ordering from the same company for about a year. I don't wish to say who cause I'm still relatively new to the lampworking scene and don't wanna be involved in drama, but can anyone point me in a more satisfactory direction? Ex.. ordering 25 mil tubes and being sent 12 mil in place and then calling to let them know of the error and them telling me they will take care of it next order and to just let them know when ordering(which I did and they did not). Being sent cracked tubes sometimes down a 1/3 of the tube on already expensive tubing, which is now partially useless, being charged an extra $30 dollars on orders than the total I am shown (not due to shipping either). The list goes on but I just want a cool supplier bro. Who do you all use? :bangHead:

I just find it hard for anyone to be cheaper than ABR. Even though MGA price matches, they charge me sales tax. That's why ABR gets 99% of my orders......

i have been ordering a lot from ABR and i am happy with the prices and service.
i also occasionally order from glasscraft, mountain and frantz
everyone drops the ball occasionally. so i try to order things a little before i need them. also in my experience (almost)everyone, (almost)always charges more for shipping that the online estimate.

+1 I would rather shoot myself in the foot than give abr another dime, course they're usually one in the same. Mountain glass all the way.

I am a huge fan of MGA I have ordered a case of 40 or 44mm tube and a couple of the ends where jacked up but they are professional and give good tracking info and give good help when I placed my first order. Plus it is nice you can see all your orders over the year for tax purposes over the nothing you get with ABR I have order from both both are nice but I got some very shitty joints from ABR so I think I will stick with MGA.
Plus I got my torch kiln and glases and first glass oreder from MGA
Peace

I've done around 20-30 orders with glasscraft out of CO and have been very happy. They will get most of my $ just because of their awesome customer service and great monthly sales. Just make sure you talk to them on the phone to verify they have what you want.

Well I guess I'm not the only one. I have been trying to get my invoices and for the last month, I have been told by three different people at ABR that they have sent them. Still nothing
With Mountain I get them within an hour.

mountain glass is sick, i was just there and got glass blindness temporarily. every single person i met who worked there was more than happy to help and just happy. good people to buy all your glass from every time. some tools youll need to find other places, but thats a one time purchase. if you have any questions about switching call them up, they might give you a permanent discount just for being a fulltime lampworker.
cheers

as much as i like MGA, i dont see this happening really, i know the one time i asked for a deal( they were offering free shipping in america but no deal for international), they said they would throw in a free hoodie on the next order if i mentioned it, so i passed. i dont want a hoodie, i was just curious about a small break on shipping maybe. i still use them though, great to deal with.

Most businesses will give you discounts based on quantity. Ie- Buy X amount of supplies a year, and get Y off. Not many will give free shipping though, since that's not something they mark up, and can end up being a large percent of the price of an order depending on what people want and where they're located.

When I bought my initial startup package, it was a little under $2800. They gave me a 5% discount on everything. (Then despite being out of state, they charged me full NC sales tax, boooo. Couldnt ship me an empty box? :)). Anyhow, they do have discounts but at least they DO indeed full price match any competitor according to the website.......

TAXATION!! BAH! I still plan to order from them though, I'm sure the service is worth the little extra cost, and if they happen to give you a discount to counter the taxes even better!

Also: MGA = the best packaging for shipping in the industry, at least from the suppliers I've ordered from.

MGA's my new go-to, though I'll keep an open mind if someone I don't hate is running a deal on a particular color I need.

i didnt ask for free shipping, i just asked for a deal and was offered a hoody. i have spent thousands and thousands at MGA, and will most likely spend thousands more, but they dont seem to offer discounts always when asked for. if others have better luck, then good for them.

Maybe the problem was that you asked for the discount after you made the order? $10 says if you told them that you wanted to buy a lot of stuff from them a year, and said you were about to place an order for $3000, they'd give you a pretty good deal.

i do buy lots of stuff from them so far, they know that. but i'm not going to say shit just to get a deal. i dont really care, i was just stating a fact, that the one time i did ask them, what they offered was not wanted by me. I have spent more money there than anywhere, and they are very easy to deal with, but i was just saying, that when i asked for a small break, they offered a hoody.

THE BEST. Never gotten a broken item from MGA. ABR I get one or two broken rods every few pounds of color because they wrap them so damn tight. Minor gripe of course. Generations used to ship tube to me loose in packing peanuts. That's a WTF if there ever was one! :)

I've had problems with abr & mga, they aren't that different. I've spent time talking to ross about the screw ups and basically he told me its hard to get good help. it comes down to the people working there and they aren't always skilled at dealing with people or have basic business sense or care! I don't recommend either anymore but abr seems cheaper. The price we will pay for cheapest prices will be poor service, although joe at mga seems to be the most competent so far....

I have ordered from a few of the suppliers and my most recent ABR order came with a broken item and took roughly a month to arrive (i forgot i ordered it even!). I promptly took a pic of the broken thing, and typed a nice private message with the picture just asking if a replacement was possible, etc and was not even given a reply...
I buy from trevs in person, artco inc sometmes, glasscraft eugene, MGA, and i did order from ABR in their past few sales, but i am also coming to fnd some other companies will match or get close to an "ABR" sale price if you explain to them why you want to order here, and are very polite on the phone or whatever.

I use Newport industrial glass for all of my clear needs. Color goes through who has the best deal at the time. Ive never had issues of damage or order mixup with them and the have a great deal if you buy more than 10 cases
