Nice job Doug. Super cool idea! Can a smartphone scan those QR codes through the clear lens?

yes they're real, yes they scan... it's not super easy, but I checked them before I sent them.

And thanks nate! The Optics on your O marble look sick, would love to be able to twist it around myself and follow the tubes.

Here is the voting stuff from the rules and info thread.

VOTING:
** Once the gallery is complete and all entries presented and unveiled, the voting will begin. We will have two groups who will be doing the voting - a special panel of 20 judges, and then everybody else for 'People's Choice', hereafter referred to as 'The People'.

** A Voting Committee consisting of three community members will be established. This committee will receive all email voting from both the Judge's Panel and The People, and will tally the votes and post results at the end.

** The Judge's Panel will be comprised of both glass/marble collectors and glass/marble artists, including several very well-known and influential artists from the glass community. The members of this panel will be announced once the makeup of the panel is complete. This panel will each vote for their Top 10 marbles.

** Anybody, in or out of our community here - The People - may vote for the 'People's Choice' awards, simply by emailing their votes to the Voting Committee. If ballot box stuffing (too many emails from the same email address, etc.) is suspected, then it will be at the Voting Committee's discretion to toss out any such votes. The People will each vote for their Top 10 marbles, plus vote for two special category votes.

** Once the gallery is unveiled, a thread will be posted on this board alerting the community that they may now vote. Three email addresses for the members of the Voting Committee will be supplied, and voters should send an email to these addresses, plural, with their votes. The Voting Committee will tally the votes. The Committee will together ensure that no voter fraud or hanging chads occur. Email voting will allow everyone to participate and votes will only be known by the Committee.

** All Voters will vote for their Top 10 marbles.
A #1 vote will receive 10 points.
A #2 vote will receive 9 points.
A #3 vote will receive 8 points.
A #4 vote will receive 7 points.
A #5 vote will receive 6 point.
A #6 vote will receive 5 points.
A #7 vote will receive 4 points.
A #8 vote will receive 3 points.
A #9 vote will receive 2 points.
A #10 vote will receive 1 point.

** Voters may only vote for a marble ONE time for ONE place. For example, you can vote a marble as #1, but NOT also as #2 and #3.

** The People will also vote for 2 special categories, and these category winners will receive special prizes. Voters should vote for one marble for each of these categories:
------- "Most Innovative Letter Marble"
------- "Marble Most Likely to Become a Family Heirloom"

** Total voting points will be totaled, the results posted, and winners notified. Top 10 marbles from the Judge's Panel will receive cash prizes and Top 3 marbles from People's Choice voting will receive cash prizes. In the case of a tie, the cash prizes for those two (or more) places will be added and split. For example, if two artists tie for 4th, then the total cash from 4th and 5th places will be added and split between the two artists.

** A ONE week time period will be set for the voting to occur in, commencing from the time of the announcement of voting until 7 days have completed.

Yeah, so everyone vote.

And remember, a vote for Doug Harroun is a vote for America, Peace, Love, Justice, Ice cream, and hot women in tight jeans everywhere!

I have NO idea what happened to my "K" marble - it had never crcked before using that Moretti soft glass. It went out perfect and had the problem after a while - any thoughts on why it cracked anybody?????

Thanks

Rich

Soft glass, yellow, I'm assuming there's some air trapped from pushing those spikes in. I lost a whole semesters folio of furnace work once because of borderline compatibility issues with kugler yellow. Opaque yellow can do that in soda glass.
pity about your mib :(

Thanks - I made 2 others using the same glass and I am on vacation so I can't check them to see if they cracked too.

Cool marble Doug!

Don't forget unicode or good ol' binary ascii in your quest for alternate representations of text!
