I went to my dermatologist today and was talking to her about protecting my face from the torch. Since I have had a mirage a full day of working leaves me feeling burnt and red. She gave me a few samples of "epiceram" which adds a layer of "fake skin" that blocks all kinds of stuff. Sunscreen burns my eyes when it mixes with sweat and no blast shield yet.

Ima give it a go tonight and see if it works well. Results tomorrow.

If that is the same thing I'm thinking of, it will stay on your hands through several washings, and leave an invisible film on your glass that when it hits the flame with turn all white and bubbly.

Could be something totally different, but I would apply some, and then just play around with some scraps of clear, touching them, and then exposing them to the flame. That way you don't accidentally find out while you're working on a piece that you intend to sell.

you could also put it on with gloves on, use a sponge, buy a blast shield/face sheild

I also have a little fav blowing on my face that helps alot, just make sure its blowing FRESH air onto you and not fumes.

use something other then your fingers to apply would be the easy way to go im thinking. plus you should be wearing a headband while you work if your sweating in your eyes. its very unhealthy for your eyes long term to have sweat in them alot.

It may also be a different product than I'm thinking of entirely. My mom works at a hospital and they use this stuff that you coat your hands with so you can repeatedly wash your hands but not strip all of the moisture away from them. This was the stuff that I had the issue with it burning into the glass. I don't know the name of it though.

Yeah, I've used that liquid gloves stuff that leaves nasty residue on glass... I imagine there's many brand names but the basic idea is the same... the one i used was silicone based and made my hands kinda slippery and never fully dried.

this stuff: http://www.ac-environmental.com/products/industrial/barrier-cream

the silicone in it never really dries, hands felt greasy-ish the whole time...

I made light armour for myself i used sunscreen for a while and it sucks. i have a blastshield which is great i recommend one to everyone Thanks Darrel. half an hour and a roll of masking tape your all set up. get creative. (this is a prototype i will someday make it out of better materials perhaps aluminized fabric).

Armour or armor: (see spelling differences) is protective covering used to prevent damage from being inflicted to an object, individual or a vehicle through use of direct contact weapons or projectiles, usually during combat, or from damage caused by a potentially dangerous environment or action

Why use anything else? if you want to protect yourself use armour. :D

Keeps all that pesky light of my face i wish i would have thought this up a decade ago. ;)

I second that, I gotta little fan from the hardwarre store for about 10$, problem solved, I have it attached to the hood right above my heady head head witha rare earth magnet. It blows cool air on me face all day, it is so nice I was going to tell everyone when I got it but now that i have used it for over a month I like it even more... :D

When I am making bigger stuff it is so cool and fresh and bandana and longsleve 100% cotton lightwieght shirts from the thrift stores, even making little things it is VERY NICE :bouncy:

I dont know if I would start pputting chemicals on my face even if a Dr. or the scientists for that company says its fine, unless its real natural stuff or tried and trued for years, either way having that fan helps improving the quality of your protection even FURTHER...

that mask was sure cool looking but i dont know if i could have my face in their while making things for hours, but have never tried, thanks for sharing that...
